Are we not gonna talk about Purdue beating Illinois?

Guess that scoreboard is bad luck? Or maybe you shouldn't fire your new DC one month into the season?

EDIT: Just read that this ends PU's 19-game-conference losing streak, and is their first B1G win since 2023...

I think it's their first power-4 win since 2023, isn't it? (Of course, their OOC power-4 is usually ND, so there's that ...)

Nah, if you made a bad hire it doesn’t make sense to wait. Fire him and try to salvage the season. There were reports that the coach had totally lost the locker room.

The problem is, firing the coordinator likely won’t help anyway. That D stunk and you can’t really overhaul anything mid season. They’re cooked for this year.

But of both. Purdue is more competitive but still not a good team. Illinois stinks this year. I think

Bert is still a good coach and will probably have them respectable again this year. But it looks like they got everything wrong this offseason. They stink.

when I heard Illinois went to a 3-3-5 defense because they did not have competent Dots, I knew they were not going to do well in conference games. You cede the line And have mismatches with the big uglies against your linebackers.

Purdue is moving up in the conference. They are better than Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers, and Michigan State. I can’t add PSU to that list, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Purdue is pretty bad but brown is playing capably. Illinois is bad, their defense is a mess and that was a terrible offensive performance. Purdue hadn’t held another FBs team under 38 yet this year. Even Indiana State, a poor FCS program, scored 19. Illinois scored 17 at home. We gotta blast those guys this year.

It was also a weird hire in the first place

As I understand it, he expected to hire someone on the Seahawks staff and had an agreement in place. They made a deep run to win the Super Bowl which delayed the announcement and then that coach backed out. So he had to pivot and by that point it was February.

But even with that context it’s a weird hire. It really set him back.
