Look, I'm not sure why, but I just don't like that guy. I don't think he's a good coach and it tickles me to see him lose and screw up no matter where he goes. I know a lot of people on this forum defend him / or have defended him the past but the guy sucks as a coach. He cannot and has not won a big game to save his life.

I think he's a flat out fraud. He's another Beamer. Cheerleader type. But when it comes to game that remotely matter - he gonna choke and you can take that to the bank. Flame away.

Look at what Chip Kelly has done at Northwestern. Two running backs with over 150 yds each in 3 quarters. Fun to watch play designs. They will have over 400 yds rushing when it is over. QB is not that good either but can run. Hire Chip Kelly.

I think Chip is flakey, but he can coach. I'd be good with him as coach for a while.

I think Franklin is equal to Jeff Brohm. Both can give you good results in the win column, and both can pull off an upset. They also can lay an egg at critical games.

If we ever had any coach of Franklin‘s caliber in our entire history, there would be a state holiday in his name in a 20 foot statue on George Rogers Boulevard.

In our extreme, most wild dreams, we could not imagine having a coach who won as much as he does.

He was a good choice for PSU after O'Brien left for the NFL and they were still reeling from the Sandusky/Paterno debacle.
Franklin was always seen as a high character guy...something the PSU almumi reveled in before the Paterno implosion.

Franklin is/was a good coach. Did a hell of a job at Vandy.

The problem with most of these guys is that they start out young and hungry and then hit middle age with $50-$100 million banked.

The incentive and energy drops quickly in this stressful world under those pretenses.

Yet another reason not to seek out big name coaches anymore.

I mean they lost on a field goal and I would think VT fans would be ecstatic about a 4-1 start before the season if you told them that. Would love to be playing that schedule though.

Franklin left his coaching mojo at Vandy, where he won games he wasn't supposed to win. Since then, he has been losing games he should have won. They should have knocked Pitt out in the first half last night. It never should have come down to a field goal made or missed.

Franklin is a jerk. As likeable as Beamer is, Franklin is that unlikeable.

I enjoy seeing him lose.
