This is how Rutgers BEATS Indiana

Just as Hamlet had a single tragic flaw, and I honestly can’t remember what it was, so does Indiana. They can’t stop the passing game. Last week, Northwestern’s Aidan Chiles exploded for 293 passing yards and 2 touchdowns and no interceptions in a 29-23 loss to Indiana. Rutgers Dylan Lonergan was similarly productive against USC throwing for 252 yards and 3 TDS, but also had a dreadful 2 interceptions. One of which was a pick 6, which ended up being the difference in the game. Dylan will need to be productive and accurate, if we are to beat Indiana.

Getting back to the Northwestern- Indiana Game,
140 of those passing yards went to a single receiver, TE Luke Dehnicke. And it just so happens Rutgers has a similarly large receiver in 6’6” Korey Duff, who is currently putting up All American numbers, and is currently the #4 receiver in the country in terms of receiving yards with an average of 137.5 receiving yards per game. At his current pace , he will eclipse Kenny Britt’s school record of 1,371 receiving yards, and end up with 1,650 total. Thus Rutgers is uniquely qualified to exploit Indiana’s biggest weakness. Korey won’t have to do it alone. He will have help as Indiana will do its best to take away Korey, by shading coverage towards his side. Rutgers has ample complements. Slot Jourdain Houston is the #2 receiver on the year with 159 receiving yards. Ben Black has 127 receiving yards to go along with a TD. Reserve receivers could also have a big impact on the game. Elias Coke, who might replace Duff, when he leaves, had a nice 16 yard TD grab vs USC. Vernon Allen III also had a key TD grab against USC, of 28 yards. Antwan Raymond, who had 39 receiving yards against USC against USC, also figures to be a target against Indiana.

Unlike Northwestern, Rutgers passing game is nicely complemented by a powerful running game. Antwan Raymond, the #8 rusher in the country, has been averaging 109.5 rushing yards per game. He is nicely complemented by Clay Thevinin who seems to see significant action in short yardage situations. I would also expect to see freshman Aidan Gibson, a huge powerful back, who saw significant action against Howard.

The powerful passing game and running game helps Rutgers defeat Indiana straight up. I think the final toll is Rutgers 52 Indiana 49 in a high scoring game. You probably noticed I didn’t mention the defense. We’re not playing defense this year. Our way to victory is to score, score, score.

A chance or even a sniff of a chance starts with preparation, precise execution and top notch, gameday coaching. I'm not very confident.

I agree with the Indiana 49 part. So, partial credit.

Starts and ends with the one thing we don’t have and desperately need. A good staff and head coach that can out scheme the other guy.

The only way we win this game is if we switched head coaches. Man vs boy

Rutgers could win the game by forfeit. Indiana will field an ineligible player, the punter.

Big Ten rules state a player who has played professional football is ineligible. Indiana punter Billy Gowers played eight years of professional football in the Australian Football League.

The Big Ten rules explicitly state, “any professional football league, including but not limited to the NFL,” making Billy ineligible.

We had players that played Australian rules football as well. Need to play professionally in the sport you’re currently playing. There have been multiple qb’s that came back to college that have professional baseball experience etc…

Now you’re just trolling and discounting the information you posted and quoted as gospel.

Iowa football's estimated total NIL and roster compensation budget is $17 million to $21 million, according to a report from The Athletic. [1]
Estimate not Actual.

Iowa has a 69,250 seat stadium, which they sell out, and sends 20K - 30K people to bowl games. They have much better facilities. They have one of the best game day environments. They generate far more revenue than we do.

We can only dream of having the support Iowa does. In every loss, they literally take us behind the woodshed and beat us up. The scores might be close, but the games sure aren’t. We can only hope to be the program Iowa is one day. Their support DWARFS ours. There’s no way we have more NIL support than Iowa, no way.

Yea everyone else is wrong. You’re right. Gotcha. I know Iowa well brother went to medical school out there in the 80’s. They absolutely have support on game day. Can’t deny that. But one thing farmers and reaident and the fans in Iowa will be the first to tell you. They don’t throw money at college kids. The numbers you see reported. You know the ones you posted to defend an argument you started. Are the best “estimates” out there. Just because you lost every debate doesn’t mean the numbers are incorrect now.

We don’t need a tight end. Miami’s Malachi Toney had 122 receiving yards against Indiana. And Mark Fletcher rumbled for 122 rushing yards. Korey Duff and Antwan Raymond are similar caliber talents.
So now you’re comparing our offensive line and their abilities to pass and run block, to Miami of last year? Do you not see how badly you spin to fit your own narratives?

Al, I beg you, get off the boards. This can’t be healthy for you. It really can’t.

Cigs it’s gonna take Greg behind the woodshed tomorrow night and teach him what professional college football coaching is all about. Sorry.

It doesn’t matter if it’s an old rule or new. Australian rules football is a totally different game. It’s closer to rugby than it is American football. I can’t believe you don’t know this.

Their coaches' competence also DWARFS the competence of our coaches. That was why RU lost to them last year.

lol....this is toooooo easy:

Total Defense IU ranks 4th NATIONALLY
Scoring Defense IU ranks 5th NATIONALLY
Run Defense IU ranks 6th NATIONALLY
Pass Defense IU ranks 26th NATIONALLY
Team Pass Efficiency Defense IU ranks 40th NATIONALLY
Coaching Staff Efficiency IU ranks 1st NATIONALLY while RU ranks 138th NATIONALLY (Okay....I made this stat up myself...like Al makes **** up to fit his narratives.....)

....yet somehow we're gonna put up 500 yards and 52 points tomorrow night.

Miami has an OL with everyone in the right position that actually blocks people. They also have an OC whose playbook doesn't fit on one page. Not to mention a QB who's not an INT machine. Even with all that, they didn't exactly shred Indiana's defense.

Nope. This is the real "RutgersAl." Great guy, great fan, always has been a "pit-in-the-sky" guy but has taken his act to a level of delusion not oft seen on message boards anywhere. He literally believes the following:

Schiano would have won a natty with IU's roster last season.
Cignetti would be 1-3 with RU's roster this season.

....he just can't get past a single evening on a Thursday night in November almost 20 years ago. Bottom line.

When I posted, I said the Iowa and Illinois numbers look wrong. These are estimates not actuals so they are not concrete. If the number was closer to what Wisconsin spent, it would be more credible.
