Have to give credit where it’s due. No one is expecting UMass to be world beaters. But bringing UMass from where they were, to were they are, is a tremendous accomplishment, which began with recruiting a good quarterback.

whatever floats your boat. I wouldn’t spend any effort on you.
You seem to here.

Did UMass recruit better players than RU did? What was their roster cost compared to Rutgers? How much did their fans pony up? Why didn't their players have to work through mistakes? Why were their players ready on day 1?
UMass is in my rearview mirror. We may never play them again. We blew the opportunity and take the L, but learned from it, which has helped us become more competitive, and put us in position to beat Indiana Saturday.

we should be comparing ourselves to Indiana, not UMass. When you compare ourselves with Indiana, you’ll see that they’ve spent a ton of money on players who can impact right away and facilities. Their QB is getting $4M, which is probably most of our NIL budget. Their best WR Nick marsh, is also receiving a ton of money. All in all, their roster costs $38M, yet despite our disadvantages, we’ll be competitive with them tomorrow.

And we still have zero FBS wins on the season… yawn

Wake me up when it’s time for basketball. Given the situation, at least there it’ll be fun to root for the boys to band together in the face of adversity.

I really don’t care what we gave up to Howard, compared with Indiana, because the transitive property doesn’t apply here.

We knew that going into this season that the defense wasn’t going to be good. Our portal haul was dreadful, and I’ve been screaming about this all offseason. We have no pass rush and the DL isn’t great against the run.

So, We need the defense to be good enough to win and we need the offense to stop turning the ball over. The difference in the USC game was a pick 6 committed by the offense.

If we can mirror our USC effort and reduce our turnovers, we’ll be sitting pretty at the end of the season.
Keep ignoring the FACT that USC’s D isn’t good. #75th

Look at our basketball portal class and look at our football portal class and it’s like night and day. Basketball at least got competitive transfer talent, because basketball fans ponied up. Football wasn’t so fortunate, but nevertheless is trying to make the best of what we have.

USCs D has good talent, especially the #1 Freshman in the country, Wafle.
Don’t care…they’re still 75th nationally …we have NOTHING but much better D’s to face than that in 6 of 8 games remaining on our schedule. JUST STOP acting as if they had any kind of a decent D - when it’s simply NOT TRUE - when attempting to make your case.

He's moved on from UMass because he's getting dunked on in every post now. 🤣

They have the #75 defense partially because we and Oregon ran up and down the field on them. Korey Duff is the biggest reason why. They shut out Fresno State. Had we scored a touchdown and not given up a pick 6, we would have won the game, and scored more points on USC than anyone else. They gave up 460 yards of offense. Oregon and their $50 M roster, had a little more than 500 yards of offense.

I don’t care about the ranking of all the remaining defenses, we have the potential to shred all of them, as long as the quarterback doesn’t throw the ball to the wrong jersey. This offense is potent, and all we needed was to get better protection from the offensive line. We’ve got it as Vigna at LT has been a revelation.

Moving on from UMass be an Indiana is Saturdays opponent. UMass is no longer relevant.
you can saY that about BC and USC as well while claiming the Howard win is relevant..
But the fact of the matter is the only thing that counts shows RU has 3 losses in 4 games and the only win was against a FCS cupcake .
RU's O doing OK against a bad D is nothing to get excited about out.
Get excited if it does well against the Hoosiers and brings home a win.
A loss to Indiana, close or blowout is a loss , no matter how you look at it.
A win will show Rutgers is as good as you're trying to imply .

I will not allow myself to go back to the time I found solace is a close loss
to a program everyone thought would blow the doors off RU before the game started .
Nor will I accept any excuse claiming they looked better after losing a game !!!!!!!!!!!

Right but you spent the entire thread using them as your example but failed to sway anyone and had to change your narratives more times than a drunk telling a police officer that he's sober.
Your comprehension is really terrible. I’ve been spending the whole thread saying we’re playing much better football now, than when we played UMass. Keep up. After we beat Indiana, no one is going to care about UMass.

You want dwell on the 3 of four losses, go right ahead. Those 3 losses shaped us, tested us, and made us a better team. We would not be where we are today for those three losses, with a great opportunity to beat Indiana.

During the times your speaking of, the team had no hope because it had no talent. With the #4 receiver and #8 rusher, there’s plenty of talent to generate the desired outcome. This is a good team that needs to play better.

I'm not positive, but almost sure that the football portal class was rated higher than the basketball portal class, like 50 v 61 or something.

We are a 24 point underdog. If I had to guess, I’d say our chance of beating Indiana is probably statistically pretty similar to the chance of a gameday snow storm.

LOL.."learned from it" but didn't learn enough in time to lose to last year's bottom feeders in the ACC. But a spirited loss to USC and a convincing win against Howard and we are now on our way??? Either you will be right on Saturday which gives you a small reprieve or you will keep backing yourself further into the corner you are retreating to.

We are $20-25 MILLION DOLLARS/YEAR (!!) going to our football team. How much more would you like AL????? At this point in time, it's $20-25 MILLION DOLLARS (!!!) wasted.

You have officially proven yourself as a complete joke. You just can’t stand the fact that you’re wrong so you continually spin, spin, spin, and spin more to fit your narrative.

Being a great fan is one thing…..but this isn’t being a fan….SMDH.

Exactly - small reprieve is all it would be for upsetting the best team in the country. Greg’s head would still be on the chopping block. That’s how deep in he is right now.
