Though I have very little belief we end up landing him, anything worth reading into here? He was supposed to visit in a couple weeks but came over the weekend and there was literally no smoke or rumors until he was already done with his visit. Was this intentional on UK's part? Anybody know if he was at the Football game at least? Just seems random that we have a top 10 recruit on campus ahead of schedule and there was little to no press about it.

I’ve seen some say he wants to start immediately so would depend on zoom and wilkins

I did see that his Dad played with Pope for the Bucks back in the day and speaks highly of Pope. Just not sure if that helps a top 10 PG recruit with a JR Zoom Diallo on the roster and a possible returner. Of course, nothing is certain in the age of instant transfers and NIL. But could definitely be a hurdle for a guy probably expecting to start right away wherever he commits. We saw it with Lewis who decommitted not long after we signed Lowe.

I also wouldn’t discount a sophomore M. Williams. We need to see how Williams, Diallo, and Wilkins pan out this season – maybe one or more enter the draft or transfer – but if he wants to avoid competition for playing time I could see him or “his people” thinking the PG spot might be a little too crowded.

On the other hand, it seems to me UK is going to need a couple of additional Guards regardless. And if you’re good enough – not recruiting rankings, not projected draft position, but good enough NOW – then I think you’ll play under Pope. At least I haven’t seen anything yet where I think he’s playing one guy over another based on some b/s reasons not related to having the biggest impact on the team winning.

I've seen we are rumored to be in a good place with Nasir Anderson as well (another PG). I wonder, with Mo Williams on staff, and Pope's comments about not looking at traditional positions but more, ball handlers, wings, and bigs, coupled with basically bringing in two different style point guards to play the 1 and 2 this year; that Pope and Williams might be selling the two point guards/combo guards system this time around. Not saying it will be more successful with the high school kids, but it does present a path to playing time for freshmen without completely handling them the keys to the offense as PG1 solo. We will probably end up needing two or more guards anyways, depending on who stays after this year.

The only guy we will get is Hampton

If we are going to steal a recruit, this is the one. He's currently rumored to Ville as the leader. I feel like that's a school we can steal from.

His dad could be Pope's brother and this would still be a dog fight. Guy can't recruit.
