NEW YORK – Seton Hall senior Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) was unanimously named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team on Thursday. Additionally, the Pirates were picked to finish fifth according to the conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll.
A unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST selection, Catalon had a massive junior year for Seton Hall, both offensively and defensively. The guard set new single-season career highs in nearly every statistical category including points, rebounds, assists, steals and shooting percentage. Named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll five times, the captain started every game and ranked in the conference's top-10 in points, steals and leads the BIG EAST in free-throw percentage. Catalon needs just 27 points to become the 26th player in Seton Hall history to reach 1,000 for her career. She was also named to the conference's first-ever All-Defensive Team.
In the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, Seton Hall was picked fifth. The Huskies were again unanimously named the favorite to repeat as conference champions. Villanova was picked second with 90 points, Creighton third with 78 and St. John's fourth with 68, just one point ahead of the Pirates.
Season tickets for home games in Walsh Gymnasium are $125 per seat and can be purchased by calling the ticket office at 973-275-4255. Single-game tickets will go on sale Tuesday, Oct. 13. Seton Hall students can still get a free ticket to each game by visiting the rec center front desk on game day and showing their Seton Hall ID.
