Senate passed the Save College Sports Act last night in significant bipartisan fashion. I believe they got 77 yeas.

Key points I can remember:

- 5 in 5 stays
- Cap spending is $49.5M of which, $5M must be spent on olympic sports. Not sure how much is profit sharing vs.NIL. (I still think this is a high mountain to climb for Iowa)
- One transfer without penalty, 2nd transfer
player must sit out a year
- tried to cap coaches salary at $5M but it did not pass as an amendment.

There may have been other items, just can't recall.

Almost forgot, still has to be approved by the house.

Edit: Agents must register and compensation capped at 5%.

Cap those players but not the coaches. lol.

if a school wants to bankrupt itself, let them.
The schools currently spending near the cap aren’t going to go bankrupt. This very high cap though, is likely good for them as it would seem to putt the brakes on the rate of growth. It’s irrelevant, it seems, for the majority of schools like Iowa.

I think the one transfer rule is huge. If a player has to sit out one of his five years he will think hard about the second move. Should help stabalize rosters also.
Absolutely agree angler. From what I've read it will be lucky to get out of committee in the House. The time between mid-term elections and the new congress is pretty short,. Without going off topic they do have pretty important legislation to decide.

And the house is in recess until after the election.
