"AMES — Tamin Lipsey has entered his name in a lawsuit in an Indiana court for additional eligibility, according to Sports Illustrated writer Kevin Sweeney.

The Ames native would be a huge addition to an Iowa State backcourt that lost Killyan Toure in August to a shoulder injury, who will be sidelined until January.

The former Cyclone point guard joins around 90 other athletes in the Monroe County Circuit to suit up for a college basketball roster in 2026.

This past summer, the NCAA adopted a rule that grants five years of eligibility to all college athletes who will start in the fall. Lipsey and around 450 other athletes are suing, claiming they are being unfairly denied a fifth season.

The plaintiffs and the NCAA have until Thursday to submit all documentation and any additional filings before a decision is made."

He played in nba summer league.
They paid him.
Denied!
He agreed to, but didn't sign the "Exhibit 10" contract which is between 5K-50K for a year in the G League, with the possibility of being waived. Looking at his side of things, if I were in his shoes, I'd have done the same thing, because fortunately for him, he's in the category of the 5 for 5 Rule. For us, if he returns to ISU, he'll just be a P.I.T.A. for us for a day.

Do you know if that sports act is passed would he then be ineligible again?
If it were passed and signed today it could, but that's not possible as it will still have to go through the House for approval if it makes it through the Senate, which doesn't reconvene until after mid terms. Basketball season will already be in progress if it is approved and it's changes apparently would then take affect the next off season. That's what I'm seeing anyway.

ESPN had an article on it saying senate is expected to vote on it any day now. Move to house. Co sponsors wanted to and get voted on in Sept. before midterms so still a good chance could happen before then.

The house is already out and do not come back till after the midterms......so not sure how it's possible.

Why does it seem like Iowa almost always comes out on the wrong side of the scenarios ?
What does this have to do with Iowa? We only play them one game, and its doubtful that will have any bearing on our season overall.
