I wouldn’t get too excited yet. He’s class of 28. Nowadays it’s damn near customary for top recruits to flip their commitment at least once in their last years of HS.

I’ll be psyched about this one when I see him actually wearing blue.

Yeah you can’t really get excited about Football recruits until the letter is in hand on signing day.

Louisville doesn't have the NIL for a player being recruited by Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas A&M, LSU, Oregon, Tennessee, and Ohio State.

What was he ranked coming out of high school? Or did they even do rankings at that point? Genuinely curious. I can’t remember Kentucky ever landing a top ten national recruit.
I’m about positive Couch was the #1 player in the nation and was breaking national passing records while doing so. I know DJ was either 1 or 2 but I’m pretty sure Couch was #1 and we almost lost him to Tenn.

Yep. Couch was pretty much the unanimous #1 player. He was named Gatorade and USA Today national player of the year.

I believe Dennis Johnson was the #1 ranked player nationally when he committed to us in 98.
Yeah, people thought he was gonna be like our Reggie White when he committed to UK. Didn’t quite work out that way.

Of course there were also a few folks who thought his son was gonna be like our Steph Curry. That sure didn’t work out either.

He went from Oklahoma to UK after watching Oklahoma get manhandled. LONG way to go in this one. What this tells me more than anything is we need to look competitive in our big games.
Agree 100% but man what a big one this would be. This kid is a legit difference maker.

Tim Couch and Dennis Johnson both were 5-stars before that was a thing. Dennis even had a 2-page spread in Sports Illustrated when he signed with UK.
Yeah Couch and Johnson, and maybe third was Doug Williams who was considered the top offensive lineman in the county from Cincy Moeller in 1981 and Antonio Hall was about the same from Cincy later on.

He was too skinny for the SEC when he got here but he was still one of our better players so he played as a true freshman and just got skinnier by the end of the season. That cycle repeated itself 3 times and he never put on the needed weight here. A redshirt year would have improved his college career a bunch.
