It's a backhanded slap to Iowa if you think it through.
Iowa only moves up 3 with the win while Michigan moves down 13 with a loss.

You both are on target. Paul Finebaum (being the SEC guy that he is) said that Iowa's win over Michigan was the stuff of Steven Spielberg the way it turned out. He said Kirk's tenure is coming to an end soon and that Michigan was a good team, but not great. He definitely doesn't have a high opinion on us.

Who do you think should be ranked lower than Iowa at this point? I haven't seen BYU play but the other teams seem to belong there.
BYU, Texas Tech and probably Ole Miss…at the very least their loss should’ve knocked them out of the top 10.
Also, Michigan should still be ranked (24/25).
The SEC glazing in the polls is ridiculous.
No reason Michigan should still be ranked with their resume other than the fact they're Michigan.
The SEC is better than the B1G which is down this year..
This plus voters still taking into account and holding WMU over them. Why I think Michigan playoff hopes are gone already. No way with 2 losses (cause they will lose another for sure) they’d get in over other 2 loss SEC or Big 10 teams cause of WMU game.
Florida jumped THIRTEEN spots after a home win. Against a team, BTW, that was probably a bit let down after their home win over L$U and all the hoopla surrounding that game.

Yeah, getting smacked 41-13 this weekend and only beating New Mexico 14-6 is not a good look.
13 spots is indeed ridiculous. With that said, putting up 52 on the #4 team in the country a week after they won a big hyped up game gets people's attention and always will.
I'm not predicting it, but if Iowa beat #5 Ohio State 52-28 this upcoming weekend I'm sure the Hawks would have a nice boost.
In addition, Florida was favored to win that game.
So a team that beats a ranked team, at home, that they're favored to win, jumps 13 spots. But a team that beats a ranked team, on the road, where they're almost a TD underdog, only jumps up 3 spots?

You'd have to be blind not to see the SEC bias in the early season polls EVERY year, even though the B1Gs won the last three Natty's
OMG, finally REALLY looked. Ole Miss still at 9?! Again, jumping Florida 13 spots but only dropping Ole Miss 5 AND keeping them in the Top 10.

The good thing is, for the most part, the playoff committee typically does a good job of casting aside the BS polls and judging things appropriately.
And yet, come the CFP, who always gets views as getting "screwed"? Yep, the $EC or ND...
I don't know why Florida jumped so much other than they soundly beat what appears to be a very good Ol Miss team that beat a very good LSU team. The only argument could be that some voters felt as though they'd undervalued Florida leading up to that game. In any case, it's very difficult to ascertain the strength of any team accurately this early in the year. These anomalies tend to work themselves out over the course of the season.
Well maybe the B1G shouldn't have shat the bed in non-con play.
If Underwood throws the ball like he did against us the rest of the season, Michigan might be back in the playoff hunt by the end of the year.

SO, the SEC bias we see EVERY year in the early polls is a result of the first few weeks of this season?
Look at the preseason polls and explain to me how the SEC was overrated and the BIG10 was underrated based upon the first 4 weeks. If you're being honest, the reverse has been true so far. OSU and Oregon, both preseason top 2 teams have a loss outside of conference play. Michigan was surely overrated. Given those 3 overrated teams, tell me who was obviously underrated.
Please read what I said in both posts. EVERY year in the pre season. So as of week 4 it looks more accurate THIS season after FOUR weeks. Has that been the case the last several years? Pretty much EVERY year when the polls first come out the SEC gets front billing even though they are generally just basing those off last years teams. Well the B1G's been pretty damn good the last few years so it would make sense the last couple of years, including this one that we'd get a more friendly poll.
As for OSU, aren't they still the betting favorite to win the title? Could you not see them beating Texas on a neutral field?
Sure they could, but it wasn't and they didn't so Texas from the SEC is now number one.
I don't want to look at every year. You suggested that it's every year including this one. That sounds like a good project for you though since you're the one making the claim and I know that if I was making a claim like that I'd want to make sure I did my homework.

. My point was your saying OSU was over rated "in the pre season" (which is what we were discussing) because they lost at Texas, and that bears out their being over rated. I don't think OSU was "over rated' in the pre season.
I think you should just admit that, based upon the preseason rankings and the results and current rankings, you have no argument showing an SEC bias over the Big10.
