So your premise is that if she had fired Schiano after Umass we would have an interim HC in place that, in 2 weeks, would have turned the team around, improved our D and improved our QB play?

Howard is a bottom 10-20% FCS team but even with that they will score at least 14 on us which is nuts. But we will score a lot.

The run game has looked “normal” in the 2 games since UMass. With a typical, even mediocre, run game there’s no chance of a loss in games like this. UMass did what they did because we couldn’t run.

In their last two games (28-21 loss to Richmond, 55-0 loss to Indiana), QB Ja'Shawn Scroggins has completed 17 passes in 43 attempts (39.5%) for 152 yards with 1 TD and 2 Ints. Two years ago in an opening loss to 44-7 RU, he was 14-25 116 yards 0-1 while adding 12 carries for 67 yards and Howard's leading rusher. Howard is ranked #115 (out of 124) in total offense at the FCS level. Giving up 2 defensive TDs (meaning drives starting in their own territory rather than an RU gift) is an outright failure. RU should even be able to convert a 4th and 1 rushing attempt (1 for 5 this year and 1 for 1 from 2 yards with both conversions against UMass).
