It was discussed and voted on in October to co-op all sports between the two school districts, Sioux County school board unanimously passed a co-op agreement with Crawford. A week later the Crawford school board voted it down ahead of the Nov. 1st football declaration deadline. Fast-forward to today (1/28/26) a committee has been formed and the two schools are back in serious talks again with a rough outline of how the co-op would work. Both schools are hoping to have a resolution for the co-op on the table to vote on in April and yes this could possibly include what happens with the upcoming FB season.

Too late for the upcoming football season. Schedules come out February 11th, which is 2 months before Crawford/Sioux County's April board vote.
You’re right…it is too late…their current options are to not co-op in football and probably not be able to either of them field football teams or co-op and play a JV schedule for the next two years. Either way this situation has been fumbled throughout many times along the way
Both teams will field football teams. The main immediate issue is girls sport. Sioux County has had neither vb or girls basketball this year. Crawford is fine across all. Sioux County is low numbers for sure in football but will field a competitive team. They always do.
Sioux County thought they'd have numbers for this year, but kids that had previously participated & started for the football team chose not to play this season leaving them with just six to start with. Crawford also rolled out fewer numbers than anticipated, but should squeak it out with a roster around 9-10 kids. Discussions are still being had about the possibility of putting a co-op into place for football for the 2027 season, using one of the schools varsity schedules, or playing a JV schedule as a co-op in 2027 until the next cycle comes around.
Since when can you co-op mid cycle and just play one of the schools varsity schedules?
I seem to remember schools discussing this possibility in the past (mid-cycle cooping) it would take a major change in precedent (and potentially the constitution) if it was allowed now.
Page 43 of the constitution as states FB coops are due November 1st of the year that scheduling occurs. But does due also mean they are only considered at that time?
Either way, I would be extremely surprised if a coop was allowed to play one of their varsity schedules. A coop that takes on a JV only schedule? Seems much more likely.
