Sir, you've been around long enough that you and I both know precisely how this is going to go.
We'll beat Bama and shock the world - and that will last for one week - and then we won't win another game. It's the most Gamecock thing ever. Likely even. Wouldn't shock me a bit. No rhyme or reason to it.
while it is highly unlikely the Gamecocks will beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa, the loss to MSU at home has now made the Kentucky all the more important. If we lose at home to Kentucky, the season is effectively over, tough to see better than 5 wins. Which is so disappointing as going into the season I had hopes we might win 8 games. On a positive note, I am very pleased to see how much better the Ol is playing, kudos to our ol players and the coaches!
How they respond against Bama will tell us what we need to know. It's too bad they're in a must-win situation against Bama on the road, but that's where they put themselves. If there's any fight in this team, it'll show on Saturday.
I almost - ALMOST - don't even want us to beat Bama. I simply don't want to hear Beamer's mouth if we do.
If we lose to Bama and Kentucky how can the AD keep Beamer? Losing those we would be 2-3, 0-11 in the kast 11 power conference games, and be facing a brutal remainder of our schedule
If we shocked Bama, and probably beat Arkansas, thats 4. A&M, Clemson look vulnerable so what if we pull 1 more.
Thats 5-7, a 1 game IMPROVEMENT and we probably extend Beamers contract another 5 years with a bigger buyout.
So Roll Tide…..unless everyone wants endless 5/6 win seasons
I see a win at Bama, a win over Arkansas and UK and a win against Clemson getting us to 6 wins. Beamer will be talking about how things have turned around after the season and he will be here for a few more years of mediocrity.
We are a 12 point underdog. That isn't a crazy number, and Bama hasn't looked dominant this year. I can easily see Bama overlooking us. Our D is good enough to slow Bama down if we can get a decent first half lead like other teams have. I don't think we run them off the field, but I can see us stealing a win.
We'll see, but Clemson has the look of a team that could improve as the season goes along. I'll be interested to see how they do against Cal this week after a big comeback win over UNC...if it was a fluke or if they grew up in the process. If they win that, they'll be 2-0 in conference play with Miami coming to town.
You're correct on his mouth running off. However if he's smart, he better wait. Still probably win only 5 or 6 games. Big deal.....

Well he’s not smart so he’ll run it Saturday. They gonna do the most Gamecock thing possible. It’s time for a UGA like win from 2019 as well as a finish much like that season. Beat a top 5 program on the road, finish 4-8. OR summon their inner 2010 and beat Alabama then lose to Kentucky the next week. Either way 2026 doesn’t end well regardless of Saturday’s result.
I wish the Gamecocks were able to play Clemson now, the reason being, their new freshman QB played better as he gained more confidence later in the game against UNC. Obviously much can happen between now and then, but it is not unrealistic to think he may improve by the time we play them.
