Howard and Rapp Questionable for Saturday vs Wisky (UPDATE HOWARD OUT)

Apparently both were dinged up last week. I think we all saw Rapp go out but Howard apparently was injured during his long TD play.

“Right now we don’t know where he’ll be by the end of the week. Trying to gauge exactly where he is as we get ourselves ready for the end of the week.” - HCMC

Not great.

****Just updating that Howard is now out indefinitely.

I asked www.Grok.com to offer a best guess about Koby's injury:

A: I’d put the highest probability on a mild ankle or hamstring issue sustained on that big play. We’ll almost certainly get clearer status (limited practice, full go, or out) in the next 24–48 hours via the official Big Ten injury report or Campbell’s next media availability.

In game time I did not like how he fell into the end zone. Hope it is a quick recovery. Between him and Rapp out in the shorter term and Granville out for the year, we can’t have nice things here at PSU.

No Howard is a very bad thing for us...you don't want anyone to suffer an injury but he was one of 3-5 guys we couldn't lose

Wow, bad news about Howard. Not sure we can beat USC, Michigan or UDub without him. No big play threat. Add on no Granville and we are definitely weaker perhaps significantly weaker on both sides of the ball.

Hold the phone on this Howard injury. Has it been verified from the time of the presser to a few hours later that it is leaked to be a hairline fibula fracture?

Keep in mind that football is a collision 💥 sport. Every team will have injury caused attrition.

That seems highly unlikely. He has been catching footballs on the practice field. Tengwall thinks it is unlikely he plays this Saturday though. He had an interesting take that the staff is going to challenge Quinton Martin to step up this weekend. Whether it is a rb or wr, someone is going to have to be the guy that burns the Wiscy defense.

Yeah I'm not buying the out 6-8 week thing with Howard until a credible source reports it.

It would be good to see QM catch some balls out of the backfield. A wheel route could be a good call for him.

MUCH better than the fractured fibula rumors. I'd guess he'd be back in a couple of weeks.

Campbell just confirmed Howard is out "an extended period of time."

Probably the guy we could not lose to injury. Bummer. Season-altering IMO.

We are cursed this season. Losing Granville and Howard is as bad as it gets in one season. Hopefully Koby is back mid to late season, but not having him through the meat of the schedule may dramatically impact our record. We can’t have nice things here. Q, ZayRob or Sowell are going to have to become that homerun threat in this offense.
