This article implies AK might be put on practice squad n but his pr play probably will have him claimed by another team if Washington tries to waive him and put him on practice squad if he clears waivers.
The Commanders have a capable back up in Marolta , so my bet is AK will be # 3 when the regular season begins .

Can you quote which part of the article makes such an implication. I'm not seeing it. I'm seeing he made the team. I might have read too much into this :>Analysis: The Commanders stick with three quarterbacks, a smart move for right now considering Marcus Mariota’s recovering from a right MCL sprain.<
The " a smart move tight now " made me think it was implying once Mariota is fully healthy Washington might be wise to put AK on the practice squad and add depth to a position that is questionable because AK is a player who needs to develop his game more before heading to the prime time roster.
I don't think AK would get though the wavier wire without being claimed by another team ,and the Commanders probably won't try , but would do it if they could and activate him in case an emergency .
I thought Joe Milton lll would be claimed quickly after the Cowboys cit him, he went though waivers and might wind up on Dallas' practice squad
Tennessee dumped Will Levis and that Titan reject didn't get claimed and might be out of the NFL
I also think AK wouldn't make it though waivers, but felt the same about the two I mentioned
hate to see that despite wanting AK to play
I looked at mariota in terms of a fantasy pickup.. man, his QBR is pathetic over many years. Athan should get the shot.
Rams uniforms are worse than Oregon's. Who thought yellow highlighter was a good uniform color? But I digress.
With a dislocated elbow 2 years in a row for Daniels , expect the Commanders to trade
for someone soon if they want to stay in the playoff picture .
AK will get his shot, if the cost for the ones available is too high and Washington goes into a wait till next year mode and lets Athan prove himself to be someone they can count on to do a good job .
I expect the Commanders to go QB hunting this year though a trade or roll the dice for this season with the QBs they have now, until Daniels returns, and use a high pick for one in the 2027 draft
