Hands to the face penalty at the end of the half completely changed the game. That doesnt get called and we are up big.

Yes. The two cupcake games had everyone convinced we were really good. I knew MSSt was better than what everyone thought and I knew that if we faced any adversity, we would struggle.

Even early, when we were moving the ball. We weren't scoring tds and MSSt was still playing hard. When they cut the lead to 14-16, you could feel the momentum shift.

Yep. MsSt had taken the momentum to make it 16-14, but we responded with a TD. Had we been able get a TD right there to make it 30-14 going into the half, I think the game has a totally different feel.

I know it was a ticky tack penalty, but it was dumb and unnecessary of the DB to hit the WR in the facemask.

I knew when we were up 16 it wasn't because the offense looked prolific. The first drive was great up until the red zone and then it went from comedic to tragic. And we didn't stop them, they stopped themselves. That QB was pressing and made some bad throws to "WIDE" open receivers. Had they connected just one or two of those it would have been a much different 1st quarter. There were plays in the second half where our DB was 20 yds deep and they threw underneath and then there were 5 missed tackles, and the receiver ran for 25 yds. Easy due to poor alignment and fear.

Yes, the what if game works both ways:
What if MSU didn't have a hands to the face penalty that also took away a turnover?
What if on the first drive SC put it in the endzone; especially considering they got a redo on 3rd down?
What if Taylor didn't have a few bad throws with little to no pressure early in the game?
MSU overcame their mistakes, SC didn't. When their O settled down, the only drive out of the next 8 that didn't end in points was the one right before the half where they had the ball with just under 2 minutes to go.

Here's some legit whatifing? What if Rod Gardner had been called for the most obvious OPI in the history of OPI's and what if SC had not been called for the most phantom OPI call in the history of OPI calls against LSU in 2024? Still bitter about both of those. "The Push", as even Clemson fans acknowledge it, directly set them up to win the game. That phantom call is what cost SC the game. If that never happens I wonder if we ever see that late pick six negated by another egregious call.
