Even though no asks or cares, here are my thoughts...

1. Norvell, F$U.
2. Locksley, Maryland.
3. Schiano, Rutgers.
4. Beamer, South Carolina.
5. Fickell, Wisconsin
6. Rhule, Nebraska
7. Riley, U$C
8. Prime, Colorado
10. Leipold, Kansas
11. Satterfield, Cincy
12. Swinney, Clemson
13. O'Brien, Boston College
14. Brown, Syracuse
15. Belicheck, UNC

NOTE: the order has no significance. The order is based simply on which coach popped into my mind.

All First Year Coaches were exempt. (Sorry, that means Campbell and Franklin were not considered).

Additionally, some hot names for upward mobility

1. D'Anton Lynn (PSU)
2. KC Keeler (Temple)
3. Diaz (Duke)

Tell me how wrong I am.

Locksley? What options do they have? Similar situation to Pitt, they're coach is a moron but it's not like they care or could do any better.

Fickell - Wisconsin does not like him. Unless he pulls a rabbit out of a hat this year, he's gone unless UW can't afford the $21 mil buyout he'd be owed.

Prime - he'll leave before they fire him.

Brown - that team looks incredibly poorly coached.

I'd be surprised if we lose Lynn after this year. We're going to pay him more to stay.

Rhule on the hot seat? They're 3-0 and seem to be doing OK, although it is still the preseason. Nebraska's biggest problem is schedule. They play Oregon, Indiana, and Ohio State, and as usual, finish up with Iowa. If Nebraska wins against one of those 3 "tough teams," Rhule should be OK, even if Nebraska pulls a boner elsewhere in the schedule. Besides, who is Nebraska going to get to replace Rhule?

Colorado might fire CP, but again, who do they get to replace him? They'd lose a lotta buzz, too.

I think Locksley and Schiano are too high on the list (bar very low at both schools) but they should be on the list. I think Belichick is way too low. UNC's schedule includes UND, Miami, Duke, Pitt, and Louisville as well. Normally not a "murderer's row," but we are talking ACC here. And from what I understand, Belichick has other problems aside from win-loss record.

For the excess money and lack of patience they have, how many more Kentucky losses will A&M give Elko?

One of my former assistant coaches is a big donor to MD (former Pres of a regional bank and then once he retired, he started coaching and playing poker for something to do, got to the final table in the WSOP as well as winning another big tournament) and he said he and some other donors want Locks out after JF beat them up last week.

According to him, Locks needs a 500 record in Big Ten games to be back but I'm sure it will be less than that.

Pretty good list, IMO

Though I am not sure how "arrow up" Lynn or Keeler are. Not saying they don't have bright futures (both of them) just not sure they have shown enough to be serious P4 head coach hot candidates as of yet.

Someone should add up the buy out costs of all those other guys' contracts.
It has to be a few hundred million - and only a few of them would have other programs lined up to throw bags of money at them if they were to get canned.

BTW: How in the hell did Colorado manage to not only lose to NW, but 41-7?????
For the first 20 minutes or so of that game, Colorado showed they had WAY more athletic talent on the field than NW (but contuinually shot themselves in the foot, allowing NW to hang around), and then just imploded at the first sign of adversity.
That looks very, very, very bad for Neon/Prime.

Meanwhile, in Lincoln:
UNL, which has been blessed by the scheduling Gods in recent years, was also given a free "5-0 start" this year (3 tomato cans, then Michigan State and Maryland).
BUT, then it gets interesting, and not many layups in the back half. A 5-0 start (if he DOESN'T start 5-0 there will be much howling and gnashing of teeth) could still turn into a 8-4, maybe even 7-5 season record.
By the time they walk off the field in the season finale in Iowa City, it could get ugly in Husker-Land.

They got a favorable schedule - no Indiana, no Oregon, no Michigan - but I still don't see him above the 500 mark in Big Ten play this year (Hell, he only won TWO - Total - over the last two years)

Might as well send him packing today - if that is the hurdle for him to be retained.
He has NEVER had a winning season in the Big Ten. Ever. In 8 years (17 and 48 over 8 years). And that is after going 2-26 in 2 1/2 years at New Mexico.

I don't think the Big Ten coaches you have listed through 7 are actually that high...maybe should be but I'm unconvinced

The initiator of this thread clearly stated the list had no pecking order, he simply listed names as they came to his mind

was "well known" here in Madison that Wisconsin kept Fickell last year to spend down the buy out number. The reasoning was "well we are losing any way, lose with him, lose without him, might as well let him play out year and lose for lower buy out next year".

More sec coaches will be on the hot seat more than ever now that they play 9 conference games. Sec in for a rude awakening. It is interesting that bama, an sec team was the first team with 3 losses to be put Into cfp. No favoritism there.

Buy outs are going to effect and influence a lot of those but I pretty much agree with most of them.
I think Locks and Schiano are both safe another year.
Fickel and Rhule are under watch
I think Prime is gone no matter what. I think he leaves on his own.
Not sure about BOB, BC doesn't seem to be spending any money at all and don't seem to care.
Bellichek would be in my top 5.

B.OB barely got by Maine the other day. I think VoTech might light him up this week, so it's not gonna get better soon.
Oh wow till you mentioned I didn't even get the BOB/Franklin link. 🤦‍♂️
I think Franklin has them playing really well. I don't expect much of a game this week, BC is bad but Pitt the following week should be fun.
Looking at their Schedule and the way they are playing I think they can win at least 8-9 games in the ACC.

Ty Howle is going to be a HC hot candidate, doing well at VT.
Manny could be FSU's next HC.
Manny probably won't be an FSU candidate. I can't see them entertaining a Miami guy. I'm concerned with what happens at Maryland. If they hire a good recruiter, PSU could get squeezed by VT and Maryland.

I think Manny would be best served to stay out of the state of FL. If PSU didn't have MC, I'd have been happy with Manny as the coach. I know a non-football guy that knows him pretty good and he says he's just a quality individual who works really hard.

He's talented.

But he plays for Maryland and Locksley
ie: last week he threw for a bazzillion yards - too lazy to check exact stats - and had a great game, at home, against a mediocre squad (VT).
And Locksley/Maryland still lost by 2 scores (aided by some bizzarness from Locksley at the end)

You never know, but betting against Maryland is generally a pretty good default wager. :)

I think I said he could surprise a few opponents. I didn't mean to suggest they are conference contenders. They have PSU, OSU and USC. They can compete with the other 6. They have a shot at 6-6.
