What I observed with the league this week so far, was a bunch of guys on defense doing a lot of chasing. In the noon and 3:00 windows, 10 teams scored over 30 points. And in those 12 games, 75 touchdowns were scored too. That's a lot.

I know, with the conditions and heat it couldn't have been much fun to be on defense in Carolina and chasing guys around. I would be willing to bet when the players and coaches got on that plane home and in that cooler air, more than a few snoozed or fell asleep.

Now the Bears have some tough games ahead of them with the Vikings and Eagles coming to town. Jets game will be a win and then it's off to Green Bay. It would be nice to see them win three of those.

What he said.

Can't continue to live like it's 40 years ago, the playoffs have expanded. In short, to your point I would say that Seattle lost week 1 last year and won the Super Bowl.

Regardless of where or when in the season they're played I don't put too much weight on team's performance in the international games.
I was giving you a very good example of how one game, regardless of when it's played, can determine playoff placement or making the playoffs at the end. Not living like it's 40 years ago because the example is timeless. Many championships and playoff appearances in all sports are won and lost early in the season through the mid-point. It is hard to play catchup, although it does happen.

The end determines who wins it all...if all things are equal or close at Thanksgiving. But if you start slow or lose early to potential playoff teams it can, and more often than not, eliminate a team. I have seen it a lot.

But that wasn't his point.

2026 week one average was 27 points per game compared to 23 points per game in 2025 (all weeks). So yes, teams averaged 4 points more per game in week 1 compared to 2025 season average.

From watching the game live here are a few things that stood out to me a little. Again this is from a live watch, didn't watch all-22.
- Thieneman and Muhammad both showed at times.
- Caleb seems to like Rayond on 3rd down.
- Loveland with only 2 targets. Would like to hear Johnson's comment on that today.
- OL played great in run game and solid in pass game.
- Love the WRs giving big time effort to block in run game.
- 10/14 on 3rd down, yes please.
- Obviously penalties, week 1 but Ben is gonna have a talk about that for sure.
- Caleb seemed to make quicker decisions on scrambling for the 1st down instead of trying for "hero" play, same with some check downs, and that throw to Kmet was ridiculous. Very few if any "damn you got to make that gimmie throw".
- MN will present a different D with blitzes so that will be interesting.
It seemed to me like Carolina thought if they shut down Loveland they would shut down the offense. I think they put so much focus on him it opened up everything else.

Yes, because being thrown into the game for one drive in the 4th quarter in the rain told us all we need to know about Bagent being a starter 🙄
Did you not see his throws? No power behind them. Then gets sacked on the final play of the game. Terrible.

What are you talking about? He was throwing a wet ball down field. You start throwing fastballs and you're not helping your WRs make the catch.

He had no chance on that last play.

Early word his hammy which by the way they were dragging him to the table like he got shot it had to be a tear.....thought for sure it was Achilles.

Bagent throwing a TD would make for a happy ending but long term this doesn't look good. I'll give him some rope as he has been sitting on the bench for 3 years.

I'll stir the pot, trade for JJ McCarthy? Bring him home? What would the cost be?

There was a notable difference between him and Caleb with the ball coming out. If you couldn't see it, then I can't help you.

Ppl handed them the Super Bowl bc they scored 59 off a garbage team although Panthers also scored a bunch today. I knew they’d lose.

I saw completions with the ball coming out on time after sitting for three hours in the rain vs an extremely tough defense.

I saw him take his team the length of the field in a minute with no timeouts and a shot at to win the game.

I saw Caleb playing hero ball all day. Sometimes it works…but not sustainable.

Bagent is the perfect fit for Ben’s offense. He will operate the offense and get the ball to the right guy on time.

He’s not as physically gifted as Caleb…no one is. But that’s not what wins games.

Guys

If the argument from anyone here is Caleb “isn’t the guy,” your football ignorance needs to be called out.

He didn’t play well today but I challenge anyone to find anyone on offense that did play well.

He wasn’t in time on a lot of throws. With that said, a blocked field goal and a fumble at the 1 and we aren’t having this discussion.

Please please tell all of us that anyone on this board isn’t convinced that Caleb isn’t the guy.

His doesn’t see open receivers and then runs around and tries to make a hero play.

On his pick, he had an open player 10 yards down the field but decided to throw it 30 yards across the field.

His average was 5.3 yards a completion. That's a pretty wild game of "hero ball". Did he make a bad decision on the interception? Obviously. However, it wasn't "across the field" as you stated.

Regardless of who the QB was the Bears lost due to mistakes in the form of penalties and turnovers. Gotta clean that sh*t up, and fast.

Whether it's Williams or Bagent next week I didnt have them winning in Philly on Monday night, but they gotta fix all those penalties.

Agree on the 1st point for sure. Philly is definitely winnable though. They scraped by a bad Titans team today and are dealing with injuries as well.

Also the interception did not matter at all. And in no way had any effect on the bears losing that game. It was a throw on 3rd and 12 that was basically a punt. Caleb Williams is 10x the player Bagent is. That game was winnable and almost none of the blame is on Caleb for that game. Easy drops all over the field and Swift fumbling on the goal line. That is the difference.

What does 5.3ypc have anything to do with anything?

Yes it was across the field (across his body).

Furthermore, he didn’t need to leave the pocket and his #1 read was open for the first down if he would have just thrown it on time.

And on the play he got hurt, get the ball to Loveland (#1 read) and he scores. But he tried to take it himself.

LOL post.

It was 3rd and 12 and his first read was open. And then had an open guy for the first down that he passed on to throw a hero ball. Throw it to the guy you’re supposed to and the chains are moving.

There is blame to go around everywhere but Caleb played a major part of it.

I guess I would have to ask what hero ball means to you to appropriately answer that question. I've never heard of a guy choosing to throw check downs as hero ball.

Two terrible examples by you. Across your body and across the field are two different things. Across the field insinuates, at minimum, hash to hash (you know better).

Secondly, he's a few yards in front of him with no blockers as opposed to being able to use him as a blocker. You're just being silly after you've been proven wrong.

Hero ball is not throwing it to the guy the play and read dictate in hopes of making something better on your own.

5.3ypc doesn’t mean he was throwing check downs.

Agree to disagree on the remainder.

I’m now officially dumber for reading this thread. The QB has a bad day and now we want another. I have to seriously question your football acumen. Seriously dude
