I am not going to argue or anything like that in this thread. I just wanted to see what the temperature is with this segment of the fanbase. I’m also realistic that we have a lot of football to play but what we have seen thus far …just feels different. Sooo..

No. I've always liked his offense and the WR/QB talent he's brought in. MSU has never had the explosiveness on offense since I've been alive. The fact that he's duplicating what he's done at Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and UCF is a welcome surprise for a long time fan who sat in a near empty stadium during the Croom years watching us struggle to complete a forward pass.

I’m more supportive because we look well coached and he’s responsible for all of our coaching, directly or through hires he’s made.

Honestly, no. The fact that he flipped our roster fast enough to have the ability to beat UF, Tenn, and TX last year was pretty telling to me. I have been the unpopular one with my opinion that I agreed with play call against UF, we just didn’t have the Joe to make the play. I also don’t like the Stansbury stall. I get it, you need to protect that lead but if scoring is easy when you are tied why stop when you are up by 17. I think he is a great play caller he just needs to adapt to being a CEO. He is one of the most talented coaches we have ever had, if he can manage the prep and the recruiting, there is no reason to not think he can be an 8 win average coach.

I always said this Lebby’s make or break year. He took over a disaster of a program and despite the frustrating losses last year, we were improved from the previous year. If we didn’t take another step this year, then it would be time to cut bait. But it looks like we have taken that step, and Lebby has the perfect quarterback for his offense. So I‘m on the Lebby train.

He’s a smarter, better offensive mind than I realized. He’s still got a lot of learning to do to round into a more competent administrative and in game HC.

He has made some terrible staffing and in game coaching decisions that deservedly put him on the hot seat this season. I’m glad for this early success and want to see him succeed. I think he has the potential to be a solid long term HC for us, which was not my takeaway two years ago.

I’ll qualify this by saying that I felt similar last season at this point and that was gone by the end. I think Kamario will be the difference this year.

I disagree. We weren't as bad as it's made out. The DC decision and everything that came with it was a major issue. Lack of experience and the delay of giving full support the moment he was hired set us back. Terrible hire and if we weren't in the turmoil that we were in, he would have been fired last year. If we had another DC last year we would have won more than 5 games and year 1 would have been much better.
The DC decision made this hole much deeper and harder to climb out of but this off-season hires have helped tremendously. Free transfer without restrictions have as well.

First time HC so game day decision I'll give him a pass on some things. The DC decision is not one of them. Mullen had them too. I hope that it was Lebby digging in and making changes, getting more support with off field staff and it not being forced. Either way hopefully we're now starting to capitalize on his experience and players in his system.

I was never down on him.....this is year 2 in my opinion....all you blow hards who blame him for year 1 don't understand that there is no hall of fame coach, alive or dead, who could have done better given the circumstances......did he have some head scratching moments last year? Yes...but that is what you are going to get when you hire up and coming coaching talent that has never been a head coach....Mullen had those and learned too....

the folks on the hot seat at MSU should be whoever hired Mike Leach (wasn't a fan of his hire from a long term perspective) promoted Arnett and said it was necessary at the time, and also the admin who wanted to sit back and watch the NIL/transfer portal unfold while getting passed by (even by our in state rivals).......from a name standpoint, they are the untouchables.....the good ol boys....the 80s version of Larry Templeton.....BS

yes, im pro Lebby and nothing has changed for now

Until he recruits some top-flight DL and gets rid of Loadholt, my opinion will not change. I don't think he can win more than 6 regular season games without doing that.

Slightly. He’s shown a willingness to self-reflect, and change some things. I was super skeptical about bringing back the previous HC as DC just due to the potential ego clash there, but thus far it has worked out. It’s also been good to see him slow things down when he gets a big lead, which is something we didn’t see last year.

I still think there’s a lot of question marks discipline wise on both sides of the ball, which is a concern. I also think he could have made the switch to KT much, much sooner. It’s quite obvious at this point that even if he wasn’t fully “ready” by halfway through last season, he was still a far better option than Shapen. But this is a mistake made by many coaches, including Mullen, who never even would have made the switch to Dak if Tyler Russell didn’t get a concussion against Oklahoma State. Then Kiffin / Chambliss, etc. So, I can cut him some slack there.

Also, speaking of KT, I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that he could be our best QB ever, and it’s not likely that Lebby’s ever going to have a better one than him running the show for as long as he is here. As such, it’s hard to know how much of the improvement to assign to Lebby, and how much goes to KT. I think we could all easily see us being 1-2 right now if Shapen was still the QB.

With all of the above stated, if KT stays healthy but 6-6 is the final outcome, Lebby has to be fired post-haste. 7-5, we should still probably strongly consider it. This is a textbook case of why it’s a bit silly to have “what record does he need to have to stay” threads before the season even starts.

Loadholt came aboard kinda late for the 24/25 season replacing Cody Kennedy. I cant understand how people can wanna fire him over last years OL. Hard to make chicken salad out of chicken schitt. No SEC quality OL left in the spring portal.

I'm still neutral on him. I have no question about his ability to install a competent offense however I still see traces of questionable play calling and time management.

Case in point, last night with 1:48 left in the 1st half, we start the drive on our 25. Two penalties put us back on our 10. We have a 3 yard run on 1st down with 1:05 left. 2nd down and 35 seconds left in the half KT goes to pass (why?), gets stripped and SC recovers on our 9 yard line. We get bailed out by an SC penalty. 3rd play with 20 seconds left in half, KT throws incomplete pass (why?), then 4th play we kneel it.

I want him to succeed but long term success is going to be dependent on him being better at game management.

No, I’m still firmly on the fence. He still does some incredibly stupid stuff at times. Case in point yesterday right before the half. Had South Carolina not bailed him out with a penalty that probably would have resulted in a touchdown for them right before the half.

No. I still think he has a very good offensive mind, but still has alot to learn about clock management.

What makes him better is that he has a generational QB in Kamario Taylor. Taylor is to Lebby what Brett Favre was to Curley Hallman, Eli to David Cutcliffe, and Dak to Dan Mullen.

He understands better than most how to score points. It feels like he doesn’t understand yet how to win games.
This is my biggest concern too. He’s gotta learn how to close out games.

Anyone that watched yesterday’s game knows the score doesn’t reflect how big of a beat down that was due to us letting them back in the game.

No. I’ve consistently said he is going to improve us steadily. He has. 3 wins from competing that improvement with 9 chances to get them.

He will probably earn his 2 years with Kamario as starter. So we need to enjoy the next 2 seasons. Then we will see who he brings in to be K1 back up for the 27 season and take over in 28. Because we ain’t gonna have K1 in 28.

He is learning, and improving. He’s learned your friends will get you fired, and you better slow down late in the game with a lead. He’s still prone to boneheaded decisions which is what you get with him. At this point I thought we’d be 1-2. So yes I’m happy with him at this point. (opinion subject to change at any point)

Being brutally honest, I no longer think he's as stupid as I once thought . He's progressing nicely IMO .
Thats right, people grow in their jobs in every profession. I‘ve liked his vibe from the beginning and he seems like a natural leader. I‘ve said why throw away the time invested in a new first time HC who can obviously do good things with a solid QB on the roster.

Plus his decision to go after Arnett shows he has good recognition of needs and has the will to address them.

I was feeling better about him up until that sequence but after that I had to say WTF was that all about? That was pis-s poor game management right there deep in your own territory, no different than last seasons head scratching calls.

Somewhat. I’m still seeing some things that concern me & I don’t think we've played a bowl team yet. And some stuff he did the first 2 years was just inexcusable (hiring Hutzler). But that offense is really really good when it’s rolling. And odds of winning 6 are real good.
