I do not have a problem with gambling, but like most vices, it needs to be taken in moderation, and it is ubiquitous these days. What was previously the norm seems to have been the more appropriate compromise, where only certain places and types of gambling was allowed.
I understand the revenue that it generates, but that is exactly the problem. You now have big business and other monied interests lobbying for the gambling industry. I do not believe the majority of society want what we have now, but going against rich people draining the wealth of others has a poor track record of winning.
