They Need to Ban Gambling Advertising

Gambling advertising is everywhere. It needs to be regulated like tobacco advertising. I am not saying gambling needs to be banned, although I do think it is destructive to society, the advertising needs to disappear. Especially on broadcasts of sporting events. At least that is my opinion.

Interesting. Why?

what company is the primary sponsor of this site we are on? It’s a big part of revenue for firms accepting the advertising. This includes the B1G and the revenue sharing it adds to. Restrictions equal loss of revenue.

I understand it may be against your or some other people’s moral compass, but where do we draw the line. Should we ban the onslaught of political ads because they can be misleading? Do we ban Ozempic ads because I personally don’t think people should take shots to lose fat? Should we expect regulated restrictions on anything people find objectionable? Government can’t and shouldn’t put a full body condom around the public.

The legalization of gambling and weed will eventually be banned again but not before millions are impacted in extremely negative ways. We need a ruling class of elites to run our country. The majority of our people are idiots.

If you would like me to point you to the numerous studies on how gambling has negative outcomes for individuals and society, I will do so, but it is fairly easy to find with a simple search.

I do not have a problem with gambling, but like most vices, it needs to be taken in moderation, and it is ubiquitous these days. What was previously the norm seems to have been the more appropriate compromise, where only certain places and types of gambling was allowed.

I understand the revenue that it generates, but that is exactly the problem. You now have big business and other monied interests lobbying for the gambling industry. I do not believe the majority of society want what we have now, but going against rich people draining the wealth of others has a poor track record of winning.

The fork isn’t the reason people are fat. Credit cards don’t make people bankrupt. People abuse the vices. Pretty much anything that is obsessively done is bad for you. I am less than sure about your statement that the majority of society don’t want what we have now. That might be your inner circle or the people even on this board, but I can tell you the majority of mine doesn’t care one way or another. There are a lot of other things our legislators could focus on first. Also, there are rich people associated with every single advertisement, draining the wealth of others. Should be ban Bristol Meyers, Chase Bank, our Universities or Ford Motor? I feel people need accountability for their own actions instead of blaming others for where they fall short.
