OT: I have my thoughts, but which movie was funnier?...

Animal House for me, no question. And Caddyshack is a great movie. Animal House makes my Mt. Rushmore of movies, though (along with Airplane, Anchorman, and Its a Wonderful Life).
I consider Airplane and Used Cars funnier than both of these. I see these 2 this way - one has John Belushi in his prime, one doesn't.
Think it's Caddyshack. It has everything from sophomoric to sophisticated humor plus Chase, Dangerfield, and Murray ad libbing the sh*t out of things. Animal House is tremendous but Belushi is doing most of the heavy lifting. Plus, Caddyshack has Lacey...

Caddyshack for me. It bounces back and forth between Webb, Czervik, Spackler, Smails, and Noonan, you can hardly catch your breath.
Malcolm McDowell as the SS officer in The Passage was pure comedy. When he drops his pants and has the jockstrap with a swastika on it is pure comedy. I say The Passage is funnier than both.
I never found Animal House that funny (wasn’t really a fan of Belushi, either), whereas Caddyshack is an all-timer.
Airplane was fantastic, and used to be one of my faves, but now … I dunno … last time it was on I changed channels, as it was boring me a little - maybe because I’ve seen it so many times.

I agree. Animal House is the best movie every made.
Enjoyed both but, for sophisticated humor, rather than cheap laughs, The Graduate.
What, no love for National Lampoon's Vacation, or Christmas Vacation? No love for Monty Python and the Holy Grail, or Life of Brian?
Myself, between Animal House, Caddyshack, Airplane, NL Vacation (and Christmas Vacation, which has really grown on me over the years, and Christmas Story, which should not be forgotten), and MPHG, that's just a bunch of awesome goodness that cannot be chosen from, and can be watched again and again. They're all good.
Appreciate some of the other mentions. Always wanted to watch Used Cars. It's on Amazon Prime, streaming. Also will take a look at The Passage, available on Roku.
I need to watch Caddyshack again, but I'm waiting on the 4K release. It's been teased for quite awhile,
While I"m on it, anyone else ever notice the Gopher Cloud in the Caddyshack poster? Pointed out on a Reddit thread when I was searching for 4K release information.
On a very separate note, I started watching the 4K of Speed Racer yesterday. Whatever you may think of the movie, plot, content, etc., the 4K is absolutely worth it for the eye candy alone. The 4K resolution make it immersive and HDR/Dolby Vision make for some eye-popping colors.

Just love the ending of Life of Brian. Singing, "always look on the bright side of life..."
Animal House way overrated. Caddyshack funny at the time but doesn't translate today.

Wow this is a tough call. I think I lean slightly to Caddyshack. Comedy gold between Chevy, Ted Knight and Dangerfield.
Animal House was one laugh after another. Caddyshack was just campy and silly.
This…plus Animal House was actually a well made motion picture, with good editing and a fantastic musical score. Caddyshack was not well made at all…disjointed, bad editing, and except for the Kenny Loggins classic, fairly underwhelming score.
Don’t get me wrong…I love Caddyshack, but it isn’t even in the same universe (pun intended) as Animal House.

I think if you watch both Animal House and Caddyshack from a "movie" perspective they are both pretty terrible. If you watch them for gags they both work. Many more comedies that are much better.
