Green beans can be alright. Lima beans are like little pillows of spoiled mashed potatoes covered in a layer of unflavorable skin.

Now all jokes aside Dried Limas cooked until soupy they thicken up. Thickening added. Great with any big meal. Plain or baked style both are great.Name the other.
The whole "haricots verts" thing always makes me laugh. The literal translation from French is "green beans". I guess a bougie restaurant somewhere decided to make green beans sound like fancy s**t. But they're still just green beans. A side of purée de pommes de terre would sound great too.Butter beans are very underrated; one of my favorite meals in the world is the pork chop and butter beans at The Little Owl in Manhattan. I also love some southern green beans with bacon/onions and hot sauce (and their dorky French haricot verts cousins served with sea salt and butter).

As far as beans go, I hate to make them unhealthy by adding a bunch of stuff. A side of straight black beans always tastes great. Another option is making harira with dark red kidney beans instead of the traditional chickpeas. To me, chickpeas belong on salads because their texture feels weird in soup. Also, dark red kidney beans give the harira more of a chili vibe.
I like your description of Lima beans, which I despise.Green beans can be alright. Lima beans are like little pillows of spoiled mashed potatoes covered in a layer of unflavorable skin.
