  • Inadequate NIL directly contributed to non competitive roster
    • $6M more would have provided us with enough talent to compete
  • Lower Level Kids that were acquired are acclimating to this level of play
    • Bradlee Jones played much better against BC
    • A $5M Quarterback would have resulted in a 2-0 Record
    • Instead we chose developmental projects due to lack of resources
      • Lonergan struggled against UMass
      • Surace looked better against BC but struggled with 4 turnovers
    • Surace will look much better next year but this year is a developmental year
  • Too many roster holes to overcome this year
    • Positive Impact Quarterback
    • Impact Defensive Ends
    • Impact Defensive Tackle
    • Quality Left Tackle
    • Impact Tight Ends look
    • Impact Safety
    • Impact Linebacker
      • McClary not ready

But you never knew this? You never have answers BEFORE HAND

Rutgersal is a troll but he's right that you shouldn't fire him unless you have a plan in place to hire and support the next coach. With that being said, we are fans not athletic directors, fire schiano as soon as possible. Bring out the pitch forks Lol

I’m missed the explanation for the losses to UMass and BC.

This is a good point. Most who are familiar with the team, could see there wasn’t enough talent to succeed. He could have easily said something like, “this team is going to be a work in progress be cause we lost a lot of talent, especially our QB who is in NFL Camp. We’re working hard to develop as fast as we can, but We’re going to be much better at the end of the season. Next year, we’ll be in better shape because we’re building a new foundation this year. Please be patient.”

if you’re up front with people, they are more likely to be forgiving. It was a mistake to hide our condition by not having spring practice.

FFS, we lost to UMass. There are high schools in NJ that could give them a game.

You spend all your time here deep throating the site publisher, regurgitating his points, attacking others, and portraying yourself as an expert, which is a joke, because everything you know comes from this site. The best part is, you are universally disliked because everyone knows you’re a clown, despite your efforts to gain clout. Uh
Hahahahahaha - he wants to be a mod so bad.

We are going to do our best to beat USC but it’s going to be tough because they have a $20M NIL advantage, and are supported by Millionaires and Billionaires. Are you going to help provide the NIL, to replace the players we are going to lose if there is a change? If we have to go to the bargain bin to replace 50 players, any change is going to be a disaster. Better to build upon what we already have.

Otherwise Need 1000 people to donate $20K for any change to be successful. This gives us a $20M war chest above revshare.

It’s going to be tough because our coaching staff, players, facilities, money, donors, weather, and anything relevant are vastly inferior to theirs.

I believe This is a $20M team, so you're off base here.

Rutgers shouldn’t be losing to UMass and BC, but a Big Ten team needs a Big Ten NIL budget. You can’t compete in the Big Ten on the cheap. Hope you agree with that.

if Schiano can’t win with competitive resources, then we would have strong evidence to can him. It would be really dumb to fire him, then watch his successor fail for the same reasons.

Al, I actually think that I understand what you are trying to say....which is why waste money on a new coach if we dont have the resources. What you seem to be missing is that RU will be very unlikely to raise significant NIL with Schiano here at this point. Most people have lost complete faith in him and he's pretty much over stayed his run at RU. Very difficult to motivate people or businesses to donate to something they dont believe in. At least a change brings new hope.

Yes, You’re better off asking this 🤡
There’s nothing he doesn’t know.

Im sorry Al, but your post is insane. There is no justification nor excuse for losing to UMass and BC. Greg no longer has it. He must go.

I was hoping he could tread water around .500 for the next few years before riding off into the sunset and us having the resources, but this is horrific. This is worse than Ash.

Do you realize what a coaching change means?
it means we lose roughly at least 55 scholarships kids, perhaps more. This would be a disaster, because our fanbase sure ain’t reaching into their pockets to replace them. When it comes to opening their wallet, the fanbase is all talk. It is more prudent to develop the kids we have this year, especially the quarterbacks, and then hit the portal hard, especially for a set of Offensive Tackles and Defensive Ends.

Quarterback play.
Theirs outplayed ours.
Just taking the “L” on these

The QB play sucked. The OLine sucked. The DLine sucked. The rest of the defense sucked. The game plan sucked. The preparation sucked. Basically, everything sucked except for Duff. Sorry, in year 6, you can’t be losing to the worst team in the MAC and the worst team in the ACC.

I’m not a Schiano hater, but there has to be accountability not excuses.

You’re not wrong, but quarterback play was the absolute dagger to the heart. Can’t recover from 5 turnovers unless your opponent turned it over 6 times.

You're making a leap of faith that any significant snd developmental talent will stay at RU after a catastrophic season and not run away and grab a bag of cash and/or opportunity elsewhere and that includes the QBs.

Also, at what point do you rip the band aid off? One way or another, Schiano is eventually gone so you are just kicking the can down the road for the same issue you just outlined.

Not sure what you are afraid of, we are essentially looking at an Ash type season this year. Better to get started with ne faces and hope than to ever cling to the mediocre to bad results.

Would you shut up already? We ran for 30 yards total against a program that hadn’t won a game in like 2 years. There’s no one thing that’s to blame. We just suck and the OL looks really really bad which reflects directly on the head coach’ decision to make a change. Losing to UMass was not NIL. And BC isn’t much better.

There are no mulligans to go around here. This is looking to be VERY different even than the basketball team winning 14 or so games. If Greg was on track for 5-7 this talk would be more tempered. He’s going to be lucky to beat Howard at this rate. Vegas odds surely say we are headed towards a winless FBS season.

Start your own thread and you can say and read whatever you want. The line looked a lot better against BC, which is why Antwan Raymond rushed for 134 yards, averaging 5 yards a carry. Basketball season was awful. Football season is similarly awful. Schiano deserves an opportunity to run it back, just like what Pike got with suitable NIL. I’m issuing mulligans and you can do whatever you want. Furthermore, every game after Indiana is winnable.

How?

If we are so far behind in money that we can't compete with UMass and BC, that we have to bargin bin shop for players (your words) - how can we "turn this around in a hurry"?

Who cares if 50+ players leave?
They were bargin bin players (your words) that couldn't even compete with UMass and BC.

Huh??? We spent plenty of money on football. NIL explains losses to OSU. It doesn’t explain UMass or BC. We spent more on our roster than both id them combined. A lot more. You can’t lose games like that in football when there are only 12 games in total. We’re going to have a 1-11 season if we find a way to beat Howard. If Greg was tracking towards 5-7 I would not be pushing for change. But that’s not what’s going on.

And while the line was worse at UMass, it still wasn’t good at all at BC. Much worse than last year.

Your as wrong in starting this thread as you were in the one where you had GW pegged to win the Heisman. How’d that one turn out? It truly seems your in this to get attention. There is no reason at all where Schiano should get a pass for winning under 3 games on a season.

Think most were willing to accept a middling program under Greg for the rest of his contract.

This program is now an embarrassment and national laughingstock.

You have reading comprehension problems. He wanted to play for Flats. Didn’t say anything about Flats being gone. Money was not the reason he committed elsewhere. 2 separate facts. It was the surrounding cast.
So next time I see Dannie I’ll let him know that it was money why Kai went to Illinois.

You don’t care about numbers because it doesn’t fit your ridiculous story. You have now changed your argument for the 1000th time. Money is an issue it’s just not “the” issue. All the money in the world would not change your excusing away the real problem.
I would love to sit with you during a game (not really) and see what you’re seeing. And see how you watch a game. Because I know you don’t know what you’re looking at. The first 2 losses had little to do with who was behind center. They didn’t help. But a good coaching staff should know how to play to their players strengths. And we haven’t done that in years. And the first 2 games were lost in the trenches and on the defensive side of the ball. For the 3rd straight year.
Don’t plan on tailgating with him. He scares girls so a number have said he’s not welcome. True story

I care if 50+ players leave, because we don’t have the NIL to replace them. Are you going to write the check? People have been posting a need of $30M, which is probably ballpark. That’s a 1,000 people x $30K. Do we have that?

Of course not, so stop with these delusions. Do you remember the 1996 team, how awful that was? That is probably what we’re looking at, if we blow this up. There won’t be adequate support to replace the players we lose.

Similar to how basketball was able to get better players next year, Kelli is raising more NIL money for next year for football. So football should be able to get better players next year from the portal. Also, there is a learning curve to managing the portal, which is why we didn’t fare so well. Lastly, the kids are getting better. Bradlee Jones played much much against BC than against UMass. The kids we got this year, will be acclimating to this level of play and be ready to go next year. We don’t recruit players, we develop them.

so keeping things status quo will allow us to be focused, and address primary needs. TE, LT, RT, 2 DEs, and a CB should be our first priority. QBs will be a year better. Next go round in the portal we have to take fewer, better players.

You need to learn the difference between operational expense, capital expense, and NIL. We are overspending in OPEX, because our CAPEX and NIL are very poor. So it is taking more effort to land players.

GW beat VT, MSU, MD and Miami. Thats good enough. Not every kid is going to live up to expectations.

Schiano should get a pass due to the extraordinary circumstances this year. Losing a significant amount of talent to graduation and the transfer portal, and not having enough NIL to replace it, has placed us in a difficult position.

Schiano should be brought back no matter what. The AD just lost $78M last year. There’s no money for buyouts, unless someone steps up, which we know isn’t going to happen. Plus there isn’t enough NIL to replace the roster, unless people step up, which we also know isn’t going to happen. The most prudent thing to do is run it back.

He says anything that makes him feel better. When he gets called on it, he starts to blame something else. How do you blame the QB play for a team that is the #131 rushing team in FBS? Our two opponents combined for a 2-22 record last season. We averaged 3.8 yards per carry against Boston College who has the #125 Rushing Defense in FBS. Yeah, let's blame the QB!!!!!! I'd rather talk football with my 7 year old grandson because he already understands winning games starts with winning the LOS. It is not a coincidence that Schiano's first winning season at RU was the year he hired Kyle Flood as the OL coach, who coached some of the best lines I've seen here. Schiano's record at RU is 56-33 with Flood as his OL Coach and 43-77 without Flood. He's had 1 losing season with Flood as the OL coach and 2 winning seasons without him.
