Let Schiano stay the entire season and let every disastrous loss, every foolish coaching decision and every failure of leadership be on Schiano's resume forever. The season is toast as it is. Let Schiano sleep in the bed he made. Maybe next season we get a real coach rather than a BS artist.

Why? Maybe because he's using dupe handle. Likely troll. Say what you want but don't hide behind a dupe.

That's going to be the record whether he stays or you can him and give it to an interim. It makes no difference from that point of view.
What ?
The program is in a death spiral.
Don’t delay what’s going to happen anyway in 3 months. Show we are serious about football and this Mickey Mouse show stops.

I get that, but even if you fire him this afternoon, a member of his staff steps in as the interim, a staff where there is no clear interim choice. And the roster is what it is. So the death spiral happens either way. Any benefits that would accrue from an immediate dismissal are not significant enough to change the trajectory. It brings finality to the Schiano disaster, and maybe that's something, but It's not like you can hire a whole new head coach and staff in the middle of a season. They're all busy right now.

If Greg isn’t gone bye week then he probably lasts the season

otherwise who will step in? If Zinn has somebody ready to go they’d have to do it bye week but it’s really really hard to do that

I just don’t see either the OC or DC taking over. Our D is atrocious and KC is not a head coach kind of guy

Greg being canned, would make Bye week more enjoyable instead of being considered just a break from the losses

Yup. Should be 1-11 regardless. No matter what, he’s done, whether it’s this Monday or November 30th. At least with Greg and staff, there’s a shot at a 2 win season and guys not redshirting.

Im sure Zinn is already working the phones and going through her list.

Honestly, Ive already checked out for the season. Fire, dont fire, whatever.

It is true as we need something to change the failing narrative. Getting rid of Ash and puttting on that interim guy didn’t yield a lot of wins but it was the right thing to do. I just don’t know who they put in

It’s not about him. Don’t care about him at all. If you have to pay him anyway what difference does it make. Letting him finish the year, it’s just more time wasted.

If you can get Brian Kelly or someone competent to come now. Do it.

No one is coming now because there will be so many more openings at the end of the season, and this job will be at the back of the line. A coach like Kelly isn’t coming unless you overpay and have a big NIL budget ready to go. FSU is looking like it will be the best job available, though there may be others.

Regardless- it would not make any sense to let Greg go at this point. We aren't going to just turn it around and be playing in a major bowl so let him finish the season out. It clear's this season off the payroll and then we can make the move when it makes more sense.

It would be the most *Rutgers* sports thing ever to leave him at 99 wins, 99-111, after USC demolishes us by a good coach.

Give me Joe Woodley for the rest of the season. Good coaching is good coaching. His father was a coach, 107-53, 93-35 at NAIA Grand View(2008-18), Joe has a career 80-9 record at Grand View(72-5 2019-24)/ FCS Drake(8-4 2025)

Ciarrocca is a lifer position coach/Coordinator. Travis Johansen had one year 10-5 at South Dakota. HC experience matters at any level.

If a coach is fired during the season, it’s not really about saving the season and turning it around or hiring a new coach quickly.

It would be more about getting your house in order and ducks lined up to go out and search for a coach when the time is right. It’s easier and cleaner to do all that without a sitting head coach.

Yep there is no upside to letting him finish the season. The mismanagement of the program is egregious. Doesn’t matter if he pulls out a couple miracle wins somehow.

You can’t spell egregious without greg. 99 wins whoopie. One good year and the freaking texas bowl.

Don’t buy waiting. If a coach wants to take the job they will do it now. We need it now. If they don’t want it move on to the next guy.

Schiano is done coaching at this level. Except maybe DC.

While I've finally come around to the position that we need new leadership for the Rutgers football program, it needs to be said that Rutgers has not exactly shined in its selections of head football coaches since the decision to go Big Time. No one is gonna be impressed by any of these performances:
Anderson 27-34-4
Graber 29-36-1
Shea 11-44
Flood 27-24
Ash 8-32.
GS 99-108
That's some winning tradition. Maybe some of my buds who have told me for years that Rutgers has no chance at being successful at the Big Time level were right. That they don't have the resources...especially fan support...to run with the top programs. It's very disheartening.

IMO running with the top programs isn’t the realistic goal, although that would be a nice bonus.

But having winning conference records and being ranked every so often is very realistic for any program in the P4…like what Bielema has done at Illinois ior Campbell when he was ISU or Elko and Diaz at Duke. What Cignetti has done at IU doesn’t have to be the benchmark, even if it would be awesome lol.

If the playoffs expand to 24 then even that becomes a realistic goal. Then just getting ranked will give you a pretty good chance of getting into the CFP. So a lot of nice realistically obtainable goals out there for any P4 program.

Correct

In 16 years, GS has had a winning conference record 4 years. Bret B has had a winning conference record 9 out of 17. It's time to move on

I really despise guys like the OP. He just decided two days ago that he needed to join the board? I'll respect the long time posters who have gone through the wringer year in and year out instead of the people who join just to dance on the guy's grave.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but some are entitled to it more than others.

I saw somewhere, don't remember if it was on this board, that Dave Brock could be an interim.
