its not exactly like the olden days when things turned ugly. There is real money to be made now.

Totally agree. Who would want to be part of this organization?
Obviously you are not a detached observer, but I actually think it is the opposite. Decommits happen when the coaching staff that recruited you got fired, or in this case, are clearly about to get fired.

There have been guys changing their minds in lots of previous Rutgers classes. That's why a number of posters here have often said after RU got an impressive verbal that they'd wait to get excited about the kid until he actually signs on the dotted line. The word COMMIT doesn't mean what it once did. I'm sure the 0-2 start to the season didn't help in this case, especially if the kid actually witnessed the product Rutgers put out on the field vs. U Mass and Boston College. And heard all of the clamoring for Schiano's termination.
But anyone who has been around Rutgers football for very long knows that this guy and several others I could mention in the 2027 class were never guaranteed to actually sign with RU when the time came.
And frankly with the way things are headed with this program I wouldn't count on any of the guys on those lists of the Rutgers 2027 class.
There's bound to be wholesale changes. And I can't think of a reason why if that's gonna happen it shouldn't start sooner rather than later.

Our DEs aren't getting sacks, the defense is atrocious, and losing to UMass and BC, two really down programs, added to it. Not surprised, we will definitely have to hit the portal really hard this off-season

Should hit the portal hard every season. Thats the game. Dont waste the resources on 3 star high school recruits. Wait 2 years until they proved themself somewhere else and recruit them then. Lower overall cost and better return on investment. This is what our competition is doing. It’s not brain surgery. It’s just someone is married to “developmental program”

You aren’t wrong but what’s interesting in these experienced portal guys started oht as HS recruits so it’s almost like FCS and G6 will get most HS recruits and their best performers will transfer to P4 programs so FCS and G6 become the P4 development league.

Exactly. Talent will be flowing both ways. Ones that prove themselves lower will flow higher. And people that haven’t flow lower. A couple of us on this board have been discussing this for years. This will create parity. Talent evaluation will be more important than development at this level.

Maybe Rutgers can use Bo Mascoe's Ohio State game film as a recruiting tool? "Come to Rutgers, we will develop you to play like a pro, not start you, and you can get a giant bag to play for CFP contenders and shine on national TV!" That has a great ring to it, and we should have 4 and 5 star players lining up as Rutgers recruits.

You’re forgetting that you’ll be passed over on the depth chart and not a big loss.

The problem is getting kids that want to come here, hard to get the top kids to come here when your coach is on the hot seat and you are not playing in the post season. Too easy for other coach to also come after our good players

Tip kids? UMass got the top kids? bc got the top kids? Last years bone headed losses, they got the top kids? Dont need the top kids or the most highly compensated. You need to be able to evaluate contributors that will get you 8 wins a year. No one is asking for an Ohio State or USC level roster.

The issue is not this year or last. While everyone else figured out the portal and how to use it properly. He was and still is preaching developmental program. There no time to wait and develop for 3-4 years to see the field. Sorry to say it’s a transactional world. Prove yourself immediately or find someone else that will.

Oh. GS must go, he is not going to bring in the kids that we need to get it done even . I think by mid season the kids will tune him out. It a business, they have five years to play and they will consider their options after every season. Should I stay or should I go, one losing season maybe I stay if I can see us turning this thing around. Two losing seasons you start losing players and recruits. Currently we have too many holes to fill and drop back qb will get killed. Give me a new coach and a dual threat QB and the current narrative can change. BC went to D2 to get there QB. I 3 season he passed for 4300 yards and rushed for 1600, dis we even take a look at this kid probably no . If GS stays you will keep hearing, we must improve and we will improve, I think we were trying too hard, keep chopping but the wins will not be there.

Agreed with everything you said. Was saying at the UMass game it seems like many of the coaches have already tuned Greg out. Very little interaction between the staff. And less between staff and players. This is not a kumbaya staff. There is some serious smoke. Not everyone is on the same page. And Greg has shown very little emotion while he is getting his teeth kicked in.

Schiano has tanked badly in the Portal on Defense.
Only a new HC can hit the Portal hard in this off season. Amazing we are already talking about the off season after only 2 games in. Tells all where the program is at.
