This is something I’ve been talking about for years and we’re now seeing it coming back all over the NFL

Needless to say, I still am of a mind that integrating this - in a meaningful way - would make us even more dynamic on offense

Agreed. I'm ready for a return of the halfback, hammer blocks, wham blocks (brewington block), and buck. I think there is a place for it in today's game especially under center. Makes the conflict happen sooner and I haven't seen a whole lot of direction/teaching in some of the coaching clinics my buddies have shown me cover dealing with a lot of this stuff. I don't think traditional fullbacks will come back, but I like what nebraska has done in their short yardage plays with the DE back there.

Don't forget, 5 yards back and then wait 1.5 seconds before giving it to a running back with no momentum.

I think Nebraska can get some talented TEs locally and the TE is the most important piece of that single back, under center run game. Would love to see 3 TEs, single back with a huge qb would could also run some option or just qb power with those TEs leading.

I like that putting the QB under center allows for the toss sweep, where a RB can take the pitch with some forward momentum. Shotgun QBs tippy-toeing over to a flat-footed RB and handing him the ball never struck me as a great play design.

This is the most confounding thing in modern football. Is the simple timing and momentum physics really that hard to grasp? Or is it just not cool to go under center in any situation?

My most haunting memory of Frost's goal line offense was a left-handed shovel pass against Purdue, with the horrifyingly bad Matt Farniok as the lead blocker. Needless to say, Farniok whiffed on a defender, who proceeded to completely blow up the play. Can't remember if NU ended up with a FG, but I know they never got to the end zone.

Good topic for sure. I will admit when my Seahawks hired Kubiak as the OC and we heard he goes under center a lot more I thought "Boring." The shotgun is fun, fast, exciting - opens up the game.

Boy was I wrong. Kubiak won the Super Bowl as a star OC and is now a head coach. I loved Gill running the option and figured shotgun and RPM is the closest I'll get to it - so I bought in. But if smash-mouth can return, let's go.
