Good breakdown. If we had a dominant running back, things would really be clicking.
With Landon, i feel like I am watching film with the Offensive Staff at PSU....... great analysis....makes it fun too.

Martin always makes things happen. Put him in there, and we’ll get the runs all day long.
The OL run blocking, at least in the videos shown, is looking pretty good.
It's mostly about the RBs it seems.

The current starter would be great in the I formation or in a power set or two back set as a lead blocker. Basically, a FB. Not knocking the kid he's just limited in his abilities. So, if they are going to keep him at a high carry count then they have to do some things schematically to make up for his given shortcomings.
Last season, Hansen gained 952 yards and averaged 5.1 per carry while playing in a Power 4 conference. I realize that the Big 12 isn't the Big 10, but again PSU isn't playing what may be the top three teams in the Big 10 this season. I love how Kaytron developed in his last two seasons at PSU, but was he any more dynamic than Hansen?
This weekend, Wallace and Martin should get a lot of carries.

Not sure about that. Just here alone we have a couple regular posters who clearly know more than Landon.

It's amazing how Tennessee has become a magnet for businesses; that's a state that clearly has been run by mostly forward thinking people and it's paying off dramatically.
Did you see that he was in the backfield yesterday on Washington's last possession when they scored the td before they went for two and got the carry on first down; obviously he's doing something right?
You can see the growth daily. The amount of new housing and traffic congestion has exploded. But, TN is full. No more room!
Yeah, that's the drawback. Eventually, TN will turn into the mess that the Northeastern megaopolises have become because of too much growth too fast, especially in a state that probably doesn't have the infrastructure yet to service all of the growth.
My brother and sister-in-law have talked about moving to the Southeast in a few years when they reach retirment age, and the Knoxville area is an area in which they are considering as well as areas in NC.
Well sometimes with a new staff they will go with who they know. This staff knows Hansen and it might take some time for someone with more talent sitting to pass him up.
I think that that's exactly what's happening. Also, like I said, last year Hansen gained almost a 1000 yards for ISU and averaged over 5 yards a carry; he's a good, solid if unspectacular college running back with whom you can win. With Becht and the tight end group and what appears to be a pretty good wide receiver corps, the running game may end up being a complimentary part of the offense rather than the focal point.

Do you ever get tired of the same rants about fans and coaches - might be time to try something new.
Here's something new. Get rid of coaches, since we know more than them by simply watching games on TV and just text the players the gameplan.

Nate made a great point the other day ... 3 head coaches (JF, TS, and MC) have all seen QM live and in person much, much, more than any of us. They've all come to the same conclusion - QM doesn't have the talent, skill, and/or attitude to be the starting running back at PSU. Maybe they know something we don't?

The new coaching staff (just 8 months in Penna and 2 games into the season) is relying on "known knowns" in lieu of "known unknowns".
There are many things to work on at every position. Buffalo won't be much of an opponent other than for the staff to keep experimenting with things to the point they become "known".

My parents are in Sevierville. It’s absolutely blowing up too. I’m thinking the middle of big sky country with no traffic or people for miles. I’d deal with the lack of convenience for peace and quiet.
This makes perfect sense. Everyone is putting too much emphasis on the Pinstripe Bowl. The best players on both teams were watching. I hope he becomes Barkley. But it's year 3, 3 head coaches and 3 backfield coaches. 10-3 ballgame you give the ball to your best.
After watching that our RB’s have to be much, much better.

Maybe true, but we want to see it for ourselves. What IS true is that he was a redshirt freshman and playing behind two seniors who were Penn State record holders and who are now both playing in the NFL. I’m going to forgive him for not doing enough to win a starting job last year.
I understand this point , but Nate’s logic is very flawed. JF refused to emphasize his best back in Kaytron, played Liam Clifford over Koby Howard, and refused to play younger linebackers over Deluca, who was a situational player at best. JF was loyal to his seniors to an extreme fault. Martin could have looked like Saquon in practice and still would never see the field. TS made necessary changes over time to stabilize the team, such as giving Kaytron the carries he deserved. He wasn’t going to completely de-emphasize Singleton by giving Martin or Wallace carries. Campbell probably comfortable with Hansen’s high floor (doesn’t lose yards) lower ceiling profile for now. And like Joe or James, there may be a bit of favoritism and trust in his longterm players. Overall most of the buttons Campbell is pushing are correct, but most of us probably disagree with this one. We were all right about Koby vs Liam last year!
