So we got Minchie but look at this today too…
Leavitt we were after has 3 picks
Boley threw 2

Seems like the formula is limit mistakes and gave a great defense.

Well....in this offense...the QB has to throw for more than 200 yards. This ain't Stoops and a cloud of dust.

And in this league with all the single high safety looks....you have to hit that back shoulder as the good defenses will just clog up the middle and short stuff. I haven't seen Minchie hit a back shoulder yet...if he can't....then he's not nearly the athlete or big arm to be a top level QB we need in SEC play.

They have played 2 games. 2.

What is surprising is that Russell's QBR was lower than Minchey's for the game. 38.9 versus 44.5.

it is interesting to note that half of Minchey's completions were to Tight Ends, Rodriguez (8) and Boyer (1) ... for almost half the yards, 69 of the 146 passing yards.

No way you can wait three secs for a play to develop when you’re get bull rushed like he did the entire second half. Sloan didn’t help him at all at that point, stuck with same game plan.

I will say this until we can fix the line issues we have had for the last 8 years. WE HAVE TO HAVE A RUNNING QB, he can be a 58% passer but he has to be able to get away. A statue QB will never work here until the LINE IS FIXED which I think we are a few years away from that.

Look at where we did have success - Lynn Bowden jr, Terry Wilson, Steve Johnson - all could run.

Andre Woodson was the exception but our line was pretty legit then and it took Brooks several years to build it.
When Bama started blitzing and rushing hard from the edge we were toast with Minchie not being able to get away.

If you guys thought Stein was going to come on and compete with Bama week 2 as a HC, you're nuttier than a damn fruitcake. We played very well with then for a half. 2nd half, they used their large talent advantage to beat us. However, I already felt way better watching that than I did Stoops crap.

Once Bama saw he couldn't stretch the field past 15 yards....they sit down... And just blitzed. They showed zero respect for the deep ball. Any long pass we tried he over threw them badly. Till he can show the field can be stretched, if that's arm strength or WR getting open... They are going to sit in the 1st 10 yards.... Play man to man on the edges.... And blitz.

This is exactly what happened. Our staff didn't help him much but he just wasn't ready for that moment. Hell his first pass should've been a pick 6.

Minchy or Sloan aren't the answer.
LSU fans hated Sloan & Minchey's arm strength is not good.
If he gets outside the pocket he can't make anything happen & he
isn't comfortable in that position. I can see why ND didn't play him.

He might have 1 or 2 good games left but it's doubtfull.

Stein needs to take over the play calling & get rid of Sloan.

Didn't you know that it was neck and neck with ND's current QB?

I think minchey will eventually be fine. He just has zero real snaps and it showed. We have at least a few more games before we get a good look at his final product.

Sloan I agree is very concerning. Qb is what it is, but he had zero help from the oc. Moved the pocket only once. Zero screens, which would've popped big. Very, very concerning.

Let's face it, we have an inexperienced QB starting against the toughest league in college football. Hes going to have to learn on the job, or he won't make it. Personally I would have preferred an experienced QB out of the portal but maybe he was the best we could get. I'm not i m pressed with his downfield passing or pocket presence so far. Let's hope he's a fast learner.
