Could we have played better? Sure. But I'm not getting upset because we won 45-9 instead of 63-3. Need to be focusing on next Saturday now.

I only kept up on Gamecast so there’s alot I don’t know. It appeared sluggish offensively. But just like last week, not going to assume that means good things for the season, not going to draw any hard conclusions the other way. College teams are often very different week to week, and gets real next week.

We definitely have some things to work on, but no one should expect this team to be perfect! We have a bunch of new parts trying to work together in game situations, last time I checked it's still the most team oriented sport!

I guess the silver liking is that we did not play well and won 45-9. But last night’s performance does not bode well for our first SEC game. MSU is coming in with a full head of steam.

In the first game, I was really happy to see the team get the plays in and get organized. Everything moved quickly and efficiently. I told my son this all had to be the new offensive coordinator.

last night, it seemed like any other year where everything seemed slower. Lots of guys running around trying to get into position, etc. It just seemed like a totally different offensive game.

I'm referring to before the rain. I'm sure the rain messed up the flow so i'm not considering that as much. Anyone else surprised at the difference?

In all fairness. Weather cost them a TD and an INT IMO, then a long pause. Were they sharp, he’ll no, but the results definitely could have been affected

I never denied that, they just wasn’t really able to “turn it around” under those circumstances. The defense was playing quite well.
I agree the D played well for the most part, but they allowed some chunk plays to that QB.

On their one TD, it looked like our DB quit on the route.

The score doesn't bother me so much as the fact that Sellers had a pretty terrible passing night. A 28.8 QB rating won't win many SEC games.
True, but it was a wet night and our receivers couldn't catch a cold. Harbor dropped two easy TD's. Several other receivers had balls slip right through their hands. Running game was great though. Sellers had over 100 yds rushing and the team had over 400 yds rushing. I have heard a lot of people comparing the Towson game to last year's SC State game. However, we only scored 1 Offensive TD in the SC State Game. We had 4 Offensive TDs in the Towson game. They are just comparable in that both games were frustrating.

I only compared it to the SC State game for the obvious reasons: weather delay involved, 2 Swain TD returns, sluggish offense (only 1 first half TD against Towson).

We couldn't move the ball on SC State. Moved it on Towson all night. Fuller messed up the first drive with a fumble. Sellers and Bennett didn't connect on that crosser that should have been a TD. Was an underthrow or Bennett didn't run through the route depending on who you talk to. Bennett doesn't catch the slant in the red zone at the end of the half result in an interception. Harbor drops back-to-back TD passes. That's at least 4 scores we just fumbled away. That can be cleaned up. Not being able to move the ball usually can't.

Are you forgetting that one of Spurrier's best teams beat Wofford 24-7 and was tied 7-7 in the third quarter? They won by 5 TD's... I also think with good weather some of those TD's would not have been dropped.

Then I'll shift some of my concern from the QB to the receivers. lol

On that note, I've long thought football should have an official scorer, kind of like an official scorer in baseball who makes the call on whether it was a hit or an error. If I remember correctly, Sellers' INT the other night bounced right off the receivers hands? The best example was the crazy OH St. interception on Saturday of the excellent deep throw by Manning when the ball took a crazy bounce off the receiver's arm as he fell to the ground. The Clemson interception at the beginning of the LSU game is another where the INT should have been charged to the receiver, rather than the QB.
