Coach Sheehan of Metea Valley has turned the program around. Metea Valley beat Neuqua Valley for the first time in the school’s history (16 years).
In Coach Sheehan’s second year, he has turned around a program that, over the past nine years, went 11–60. During that time, the most wins the school had in a single season was three, which they accomplished in 2016 and 2020. The Mustangs are now 2–2 and are aiming for only the second playoff berth in school history!
The Mustangs blocked two extra points and a field goal, which they returned for a touchdown. They also added a last-second touchdown pass to seal the game. Even after being down several times throughout the game, Coach Sheehan would not let his team fold. They were resilient, starting their last drive deep in their own territory. Even when their backs were against the wall, the Mustangs’ belief in making history could not be denied.
The Mustangs are on the right path, not only building a successful program on the field but off the field as well.
