Can we finally put it to rest that Lebby will be fired this year?

I know it is the second game and a lot of football left, but you have to like the step forward. More talent, and just better football all around. I'm not giddy enough to project CFP, but we have improved significantly in all phases. (maybe not WR, we were bad @$$ there last year too). I posted earlier that I felt the administration was committed to him regardless, last 2 games, in my pedestrian opinion, just enhances that. Adding we have a gauntlet of a schedule remaining, so he will still have his detractors as we navigate a brutal conference schedule, but progress is being made.

But....but....Dan is sooo much better. In all seriousness as some smart people previously predicted this is a much better team. Yes the D is better with Arnett but it could have something to do with the offense too. Some State fans will always find something to b*tch about because they are miserable 17s

We can put it to rest when he gets to six wins. Still a long way to go on that.

I mean, no, if he fails to get to 6-6, he'll still fired and will deserve it.

But it's looking like he has multiple plausible paths to get there or beyond, and he avoided a landmine yesterday, so by all means the Lebby fans should be excited.
I see a lot of fans put that 6-6 number out there, I just don't get the feeling that our administration has that same threshold.

I think if the season tanks it will be due to key injuries and lack of depth. I think Lebby has shown that he can be successful with decent players. We have good starting talent but not much depth. That’s what concerns me.

Thank you, his first season here shouldn’t even count on his W-L record. And coaches grow, why should we throw away the time invested on his development as a HC in this especially difficult to compete era?

He got Arnett back which shows he recognizes needs for improvement in the program and he milked the clock with a lead which shows shows personal growth as a HC.

Look, I picked us to go 5-7 this year because the schedule is BRUTAL. But, even if that's the case, I'd give him another year because it's obvious that we ARE better on both sides of the ball. He's building up to making us a much more competitive team than we have been and that should be rewarded with a little more patience.

Just remember that we started 4-0 last year before losing leads to Tennessee and Texas and getting cute then squandering a shot at a game-winning field goal against Florida. We weren't competitive in most other games. Are we better? Yeah. Does that mean much? We'll see.

I hope we are good enough to get 6 wins. If we do, I will be HAPPY to get them. Anything past that is gravy.

Coaching is a funny thing. He could win 5 this year and be we could rationalize firing him especially given there's some decent talent out there. He could win 6 and a bowl game and we will be looking at a big raise and extension to keep him bc there will be suitors.

Leb is the kind of coach MSU needed. An up-and-comer who needed an opportunity. We are developing him just like a talented redshirt freshman that is skinny. Time in the SEC strength and conditioning program is turning him into what we thought he could be.

There is still a long way to go. We have played two of the three easiest opponents on our schedule.

If we finish 5-7, that would make Lebby 3-22 in SEC games after 3 years. That doesn't get a year 4 in any power conference school that cares about athletic success at all.

Hopefully it won't come to that, but the administration will do what's necessary if it needs to.

Maybe it’s a mirage, but I’m seeing progression in his coaching. I hope it’s not a mirage and it continues. I really don’t want to constantly feel like we may need a different coach, so I’m definitely in his corner for now.

This was a vital win, but the schedule ahead is just plain brutal. Really need to win at least 1 of the next 2.

When he had a 4th quarter lead yesterday, we were snapping it with <5 seconds on the play clock rather than >20. That's a tangible coaching progression.

He has to win 6 & the path to 6 is a lot more clear after a win at Minnesota. There are winnable games on the schedule, but he is 1-15 in the SEC & has to win 3 SEC games. Damned why couldn't UPIG be on our schedule this season!

Is there marked improvement in the team?….Yes
Is there marked improvement in his coaching?…Yes
Did it infuriate me we were passing the ball on their goal line with under 2 minutes and a good lead?…Yes.

i could just see K1’s knee being twisted on the scramble right when he was throwing it away.

there is plenty yet for Lebby to learn and improve.

I don't think anyone disagrees that 5-7 is not cutting it, but why don't we quit talking about unless that actually happens. Why can't we see the improvement and get behind this team?

Ya gotta remember most of the idiots clamoring for a firing are the same ones jacking Mullen off and wanting him back becsuse, you know, he is dominating at UNLV. There is a lot of football left and it is early but its also fairly obvious the improvement is impressive. If you dont see that your opinion is probly unimportant. Besides, the administration will do what they see fit and they probly aren't on this site
