Grove chose the Hawkeyes over Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, North Carolina, Purdue and others. Also received interest from Notre Dame.

A sleepy little town down around San Antone. It really does exist, on the south side of San Antonio.

QB room is going to be loaded, back to back four stars…hopefully as starters

A loaded room with years to play is ultimately a good thing, long run. Injuries, portals, unmet expectations can cull the herd pretty quickly. Eventually some of them probably have to be content providing depth. As I said, year over year, may the best man win. And knowing the Tan Man, you'll know who that is three games into whatever season it is.
Lester sure had a mess (the QB room) to clean up when he arrived....
Grove is a 28 recruit, so he and Bessinger (a 26 recruit) are not back-to-back. In between them is our 27 QB recruit, Brayden Santibanez, who is currently listed as a 3-star.
Still, the point stands that the QB room looking good into the future.
It's fine that Iowa is getting prep QB's but the way is to also get GS/FCS QB's that are experienced.
definitely. Kid at S Dakota is blowing up. Oregon State got a baller at qb from Mercer. I’d definitely scout the smaller schools if I was Lester. Mestemaker is future nfl Qb who walked on at north texas.
I’ve mentioned this before, but I wonder what the fortunes might have been for Brown and Hecklinski if, instead of transferring to Iowa and developing their game for a year or two, they had instead transferred to smaller programs, where they might have played immediately, built impressive stat lines, gained good experience, then transferred back to the P4 level.
I’m certain that some fans would be much more excited about a scenario like that. Getting a QB out of the portal is far sexier than developing a guy from within.
But I’m not certain what consistently produces the best QB play.
It’s very smart now due to the transfer portal. there’s a kid that Mike leach handpicked to play qb for him at Miss State, Chris Parson(four star), transferred down to Austin Peay and is a really accurate smart passer and dual threat runner. I’d love to see Iowa follow him. It will be interesting to see what P4 school signs him.
