Someone tell me the difference between Will Stein and Pope

Stein is like 2 games into his first season of his first coaching job. I’m not willing to start judging the man until at least his second year.
Pope has been here 3 years, has had 3 portal and high school recruiting classes and has been a coach for over a decade and is in his 50s and had somehow managed to do worse in the SEC than our former coach who is at Arkansas.

Rebuilding a football team takes MUCH longer than a basketball team.
Curt Cignetti disagrees. I know Indiana is probably an outlier but there’s no excuses for anyone anymore. If they can do it as quickly as they did then nobody has an excuse anymore.

He is an outlier of all outliers honestly. It will be damn near impossible for a first time head coach to ever do what he has ever again.
That is a good example of it being done. But its still extremely tough to pull off. Plus I think hes got a lot more experience and years in this game.

Just arrange one of the easiest schedule in college football like IU did and maybe we can win, is this your point? Sorry but this is SEC football not powder girls schedule that IU had last year. Nothing personal but so tired of hearing how IU did this and that, they had an incredibly easy schedule. Their record and possibly the season outcome would be much much different had they played big boy football last year. Everyone else was tired at the end.
Are you kidding me? Indiana beat OSU, Michigan, Oregon x 2, Penn St (when they were ranked), Illinois by 53, Alabama and Miami. In fact the team that smoked us today got beat 38-3 to Indiana. They are legit. And a big chunk of their team was a bunch of transfers from JMU. Like I said, no excuses.
Pope is getting enough money to be competitive.
Regardless, Cignetti is still a far greater exception to the rule. Plus, it does help to have the Heisman and #1 draft pick on your team. Mendoza would certainly have been an upgrade over Minchey today lol. It generally takes time to build a football program from the basement.

Ummm, Stein is a first time HC and taking over one of the worst SEC teams. Pope is a career 60% winning coach who was given the keys to a Ferrari and turned it into a Pinto.
I get there are no excuses, but you can't deny that it's tough to beat an Alabama team, loaded with 4 and 5 star talent, when you just took over a dumpster fire and are obviously rebuilding.

He has the resources most coaches outside maybe only a handful of schools could even offer. We’re still waiting for the expected results.
We're comparing Stein to Pope, which is odd, but whatever. Pope was handed the keys to a car that had zero drivetrain, no wheels, no seats, not even rubber floors.
Sure, he was given money to buy the parts, but all the good parts were gone.
Pope won a lot of massive games his first year, he easily exceeded expectations. Sure, his second season was a sh*tshow for many reasons, but to say he had a Ferrari in year 1, isn't even close to accurate.

But atleast Stein would been on my short list as a possibility. I would have to have been turned down by 10+ coaches before I’d even considered Pope but we know Mitch’s ego couldn’t take being turned down so he jumped right to Mark after Drew and Hurley said no.

You’re trying to compare apples to oranges and that can’t be done. I see what you’re trying to do so I’ll bite. Pope has no charisma and he appears to be in way over his head. Stein is only two games into a massive rebuild and he seems to be capable of making us a lot better. The players are disciplined, the assistants seem fine, and it looks like he can make us hard to beat once the paint has dried.
Wouldn’t zero players on the roster be a massive rebuild from when you start?
UK basketball is dead until Pope leaves, UK football is not dead with Stein at the helm.
Stein’s shtick is going to get old quick. Hurling insults at the opposing team and fanbase. Let’s get in our seats one hour prior to kickoff.

I agree with what you are saying but I hate to just let them control the entire narrative as it reflects poorly on our fanbase. I just think a certain amount of pushback is necessary or this board becomes something not worth paying any attention to.
