From Matt Zenitz, a national college and NFL football senior reporter for CBS Sports:

Hank Brown has gotten the majority of the reps with the ones this week and will get the start for the 2nd week in a row at Kinnick on Saturday night against Iowa State.

Worth noting though that the Hawkeyes’ QB competition remains unsettled and, like last week, Jeremy Hecklinski is expected to get early playing time as well for #21 ranked Iowa.

Duke ain't gonna like this. It's totally unfair.

It needs to happen by the end of this game.
Let's await the results. I think Brown is the overall better technical passer, Heck can make throws but also seems to throw off that back foot, I hope they both play great. Brown showed some quicks with his feet as did Heck.

We need Brown to come out hot again as I think ISU is going to load the box and not want to get trampled by Iowa's run game. X Williams needs to run great in relief giving Moulton a breather

true, but I was hoping to see Braedon Jackson based on last week's potential that he showed. not sure if that is in the cards or not.

3AM Fran? Goodness get some rest.

I think my only real beef with Hank last week was he really seemed to lock in on is first go to receiver. Now granted, he never really needed to go through his progressions but that will be the number one thing I will be paying attention to today.

Glad to hear he got most of the reps with the ones. I think that will help as well.

How did you know? No, I don't like it one bit. It's more KF bullshitt. "We don't know who's best. It's still even. One day it's this guy, another day it's the other guy. We'll let the competition continue. And what they did or didn't do last year will have no bearing on this year."

That last comment may be the most enlightening since Brown is the only one who screwed up last season. He failed to execute a routine play that Lester says would have resulted in a touchdown late in the fourth quarter that probably would have given Iowa the win over Indiana. After that, Brown lost his backup job to Hecklinski, who publicly outplayed Brown by a mile in the open practice.

And so, predictably, Brown gets the start in the season opener against one of the weakest opponents Iowa has EVER played. He did a good job early, then looked pretty bad the rest of the way.

I guess the world according to KF goes something like this: "All quarterbacks are equal, but some quarterbacks are more equal than others." Again I say bullshitt.

It's not "even" or "fair" if Brown is getting more reps than Hecklinski is. It's not "fair" or "even" if Brown starts every game. Logic would demand that, since Brown got the first start and the "even" competition is continuing, that reps be even and that Hecklinski would get the start today. But after 27 years, we all know that KF doesn't know a quarterback from a beer vendor. I, for one, hope to live long enough to see someone besides KF running this program. As for the rest of you, have another beer . . . but be sure to drink responsibly.

Hank is the correct choice regardless of his play vs Indiana last year. Hank is more poised back there and has better arm strength and accuracy. Let’s go baby!
He better be. The Clones are going to throw the kitchen sink at him most plays, and Terrell will be harassing him all day. Cannot turn the ball over!!

Hopefully there are some quick passes on tap to force ISU to not load the box. That should open up the running game (which I think will struggle…at least early on).

Disagree that Brown looks more poised. He does have the better arm and can make the open throws when on schedule. I hope he looks better vs pressure against ISU than he did against NIU. There were some worrisome plays towards the end of his time last week.
