Thank you my friend. As always, you are a rock solid friend and a well respected asset to all of us high school football junkies.
The trip to Charlotte Courhouse was still well worth it. That is a beautiful area of the state with typical, wonderful, Southside Virginia people. We grabbed a quick bite at The Statesman Grill, and I strongly recommend it.
Glad to know they just changed the night to Monday. I was afraid Cumberland was having problems again fielding a team.
Dinwiddie was holding their own until the second half, and maybe could have pulled the upset, but they lost their QB to an injury in the second quarter, and then lost a key defender early in the 3rd quarter. Dinwiddie is extremely young, with very little depth. Losing their starting QB, which is a “freshman”, kind of tells you about their depth problems. I’m afraid the remainder of the season is going to be a challenge for those young men.
Wife and I are headed to Big Stone Gap this Friday to see Union. Coach Harless is an old friend so I wanted to catch one of his games to support him. I was hoping he could spring the surprise on Graham this week, but Graham is just a darn good team and certainly deserved the win.
I’ve got Louisa, Northampton County, and Clarke County/Handley on my tentative schedule. Got two or three more on my radar as well. LOL, it’s not of any consequence really, but for the first time in over a decade, I don’t have a VHSL pass, and for the first time in 20 years I am getting to go somewhere other than Dinwiddie games. I don’t mind paying at all, but it’s sure simpler to go through the pass gates.
Gotta run, an organization I’m involved with is holding a fund raising concert tonight, and I’m expected to do my part. So I better get a move on.
BTW, I was out in your old stomping grounds earlier this season when we went out to Southern Gap. We drove all over the place that weekend and passed by what I think was your old high school.
Take care.
