I don’t care who go ejected by mistake or what the kid is like off the field. We had kids get personal fouls tonight that are good kids too. You are taking the word punk waaaaay out of context. It was a punk move. Simple as that. I don’t care which player for Burns does something like that and I’ll call it a punk move then too. I could have said bone head, A hole, idiot or any other word and the meaning would have been the same. Try no to over think the context .
Got it, chief. I said I was wrong and apologized already. I guess we could now argue about which is the worst of those words to use when labeling a persons child, and I would vote for the one you picked, which I believe has way more negative connotations than the synonyms you chose... but I truly just come on here to have friendly discussions about High School football. Call 'em whatever insulting names you want to. You do you.

Appreciate the kindness tonight fellas. Heck of a ballgame. At half I wondered if I should be somewhere else.

Don’t know if I ran into any of you or not, kinda hard to say “Hey, you on them message boards. I’m ShinyTurd.” Food recommendations were great and the adult beverages were ice cold.

That was an awesome ball game. Last time I saw Max go wild like that was in Belmont.

Nope. But neither is Rashad Lynch. Mayfield was the 3rd best player on that field tonight, for the short time he was there.
Now see, theres a fun point we can argue without falling out, I think. Max ended up with a dominating night. I believe mathematically speaking, that in the short time Mayfield played, that Max was #3, and maybe Lynch #1. Subtract Mayfield, and Max rose meteorically. Without the subtraction, I think the rise is less spectacular. Based on the stat line, your argument is sound. Math it differently on 10 separate game nights, and the picture changes. Terms like 'best' are mathematically hard to prove though. Tonight... Max #1. That hurt a little

Counter point. Would Mayfield have made a difference in the 2nd half? Yes, absolutely without a doubt. But would he have a made a 35 point difference? Probably not. Respectfully, I still think Burns would have won tonight either way, but maybe not by 21.

I have nothing but respect for you & Lincolnton, but we deserved the win tonight.

speaking of penalties…. I’ve had the opportunity to watch a few games other than just the Wolves play…. Seen Hough play a few weeks ago… They had so many penalties…. I watched a few games online as well… teams across the state… sometimes the kids do some crazy stuff… It happens… but I’m watching these games across the state…. It’s going on everywhere….

but some of these refs are Hollywood…. They want to be noticed too

The rules in HS are insane compared to the collegiate level/ pro level

The uniforms….. So I watched college all last weekend…. None the players wear knee pads or back plates are out…. They celebrate 1st downs and TD’s….. watched a Missouri players literally cussing like crazy during the coin toss last year on national television….. not a single flag was thrown or the kid was corrected by an official….. you can literally look it up on YouTube… It went viral

So the HS, Middle School, Youth level kids see it…. Well I want to do the same as them…. Everything triggers down from the level above…

They send kids out the game in HS if the Knee pads are up above the knee … or the back plate is out…. They can’t wear certain towels in games… and I think all that stuff is dumb anyways…. But it’s what our student athletes see from the role models above….

As Coach James on Friday Night Lights would say…… Just let the boys play lol

100% agree with this. Kids immulate what they see on TV. Also agree that some of these HS refs want to make the game about themselves

You certainly did. Dunno about that math, its too late for my brain. But I certainly agree it was a well-deserved win.

I figure JJ slows down those drives, enough to keep it close, then Lynch rattles off 4 90 yard runs that are negated by holding penalties, and the game ends in a 1 point win...for the Wolves! I cant pick yall in my conjecture, no offense, lol

That white Hat tonight is definitely a Hollywood Ref…. I’ve seen him on the basketball court a few times over the years. He refs basketball too. He is a smart@$$ lol He definitely wants to be known he is in control over the game…. lol

but yeah the college kids can cuss on the field and do whatever they want…. And it’s not the way to act at all in my opinion… but it’s allowed… I seen it last Saturday….

I was impressed with the max davis kid. Plays hard… ran hard… He might still be running

I know JJ got ejected tonight…. He is our captain and team leader… We missed him for sure…

I was glad to hear… he was helping the other kids out and trying to lift the team up…. When things started going south….

Most kids that get ejected for whatever reason…. Don’t do that type of stuff… They usually have a F’it attitude about it

The two best players on that field tonight were Rashad Lynch and Max Davis. Simply put, Max Davis was better. Oh and we did it with our 3rd option at QB and without our starting middle LB (but to be fair, you didn't have you're middle LB for the most part).

Oh and you might think I see it wrongly, but there's one thing I don't see wrongly......
Nice one, lol. Respect

Yup. Just about every flex, stomp, nut-drag, step-over, chest pound, sword, bench stare, dance and even clap cellys originated on TV. Not limited to these two teams at all. The next team I see who celebrates like his father's / grandfather's team nowadays will be the first.

It was funny listening to Vince Young talk about winning the national championship. He said he was very stoic because Mack Brown told them after they scored hand the ball to the referee and act like they been there before. Now kids celebrate making a tackle 20 yds down field. Or put a seat belt on after an overthrown ball they were beat on.

As a young Wolf pup I saw some of said behavior, but I never wanted to emulate what I saw. The difference, perhaps, had a little to do with structured upbringing and an instilled respect for authority…both of which are in short supply these days. I also had a reverence for “the brand”. And by that I mean the family “brand”, the school “brand”, and last but not least the Prodigal “brand”, if you catch my drift. The landscape of collegiate sports has largely perpetrated the self-aggrandizing culture that is so prevalent today. But a good a$$ whooping from some fathers (and mothers) with the intestinal fortitude to carry out such a necessary exercise with regularity would do the world an immeasurable service. I strongly stand by my opinion, too, that the regressive nature of our society is largely due to the removal and apparent absence of paddling and G*d (YHWH) from the public educational institution.

I have not posted in years but have watch the wolves for over 50 years, more unsportsmanlike penalties this year in the first few games than I have seen in an whole season. You can not give your opponents hundreds of yards of free yardage per game and expect to win every game. Secondly your reputation is noticed and communicated to other refs so penalties are called quicker so they can control the game. I expect if the penalties are not brought under control soon we could be disqualified from the playoffs. Just my opinion not calling out anyone just stating what could happen

The student athletes today are a handful to coach. Every team deals with the same issues with these behaviors. Cussing, taunting, outlandish celebrations for doing nothing are all the norm now. I know coaches are trying to control and contain these behaviors, but it is an endless battle. Last year, I witnessed kids being being disciplined for cussing, and then cussing while they were doing the disciplinary activity. It is a battle for these coaches today. You can either try and contain it, or turn a blind eye to it. I have seen both actions from coaches already this year. It sure doesn't help you win though when the flags are flying on Friday night for those same behaviors.

Good point. I very much agree that the refs are getting prepped in advance. Good to see you back on the board.

Interesting that you expect that result soon. How does that happen? Where do they draw the line? Do they issue warnings or something first?

Lincolnton is going to have to get the penalties under control. As mentioned before can't give the other team that many free yards and expect to win the game. And as for getting the players under control, there is too many parents involved saying not my child's fault.

Players getting rejected from if 6 Players rejected 1 game team is disqualified. Players rejected from 3 different games. Not saying this will happen but I see possibilities of multiple player rejections. I believe Lincolnton is being watch closely by refs one big fight and we are done

I’ve noticed in today’s world there are to many “coaches” and others on the sidelines! Meaning a lot of the people you see on the sidelines are nothing but hype men who fill these kids heads with rat poison and undermine the actual coaches inadvertently or not! They may be there to “help” but they are actually making it worse ! Then you see what we all see , stupid celebrations over a first down, or a simple tackle for loss, helmets off sidelines prancing around! I guess I’m just old school

just saw Burns rushed for 509 yards ! Unreal

Lincolnton will be fine too much talent over there and with that QB they always have a shot! Burns figures out a smidge of passing they gonna be scary too, well scarier than they already are

Even with a million penalties that was exciting to watch and listen to

True statement to many "coaches " I remember 4 coaches on the sidelines no parents and smash mouth football. As far a parents they always be trying to influence the coaches to play their child . Coaches either stand up or roll over and bow to parents.

You called two players punks. Different story. Funny how the demands for kids to be classy in a violent sport to be high, but grownups with itchy, mean typing thumbs , with time to think about it...proudly show none of what they call for, lol.

I'd invite you to google "punk'...the best possible definition is " petty criminal". But, here I sm arguing with a wall. Your high horse is obviously superior to my high horse.

Irony.

Throw in the silly, nonfactual account of the event, and I can't take you serious. Jokes really on me.

Porch couch is a good one! I could only wish my single wide had a porch to place a couch! Heck I’d even put a bug zapper out there whilst I’m cooking a hot dog on one of those 13 buck dollar general grills!

Yeah I definitely don’t put it all on the head coach or the coaching staff. I think our coach is a very good leader and he’s trying his hardest to instill discipline and respect. It’s a difficult generation to work with and you’re right, the parents have a lot to do with it. And so does social media.

If your skin is so thin that you are looking at google definitions for words when a poster is just saying a teenager made a bonehead move then please stay off the Cleveland County thread. 😂😂😂 You still do not get it and you are correct, I’m talking to a fragile poster. Those who know me on a personal level, know what I meant. 🤦‍♂️

I learned a few years back that if I base my happiness and mood on how high school kids perform I'm going to have a lot of down days in life. I've learned to recognize that they are just high school kids some of them barely can drive. Never know what any given weeks going to mess with them mentally whether it be a girlfriend or something at home. The best you can hope for is improvement as the season goes on and growth. Is the old adversary the one from Lincolnton that decided to let himself be known after the game a couple years ago. The guy that threw rocks while living in glass houses 😂

Ahh, the ole “Cleveland County thread”: a congregation of halfwits and ne’er-do-wells that don’t know the meaning of the words they use. Wearing an insult from another imbecile like a badge of honor doesn’t paint you in the light you think it does.

AlwaysAWolf is a more sensible, easygoing wolf than yours truly, so he’s likely to be generous enough to meet you halfway, but from my vantage point that’s a long walk from where you’re standing.
