Good road win vs an underrated Oregon team 3000 miles away. Can they steal a win vs a ranked Washington next?

OK, OK, not sure how good Oregon is but it’s a road win in conference and you take that and run! Let’s see if we can at least pull a tie at Washington!

Before tonight, Oregon was 5-0-1. They beat Portland State (3-0), Gonzaga (3-0), tied Santa Clara (1-1), and defeated San Francisco (3-0), Oregon State (6-0), and Utah (1-0), thereby outscoring their opponents by a total of 17-1 in their six matches.

So getting the clean sheet tonight against this high scoring side was an accomplishment, and it wasn’t easy, as Oregon got off 19 shots, including 11 shots on goal (all of which Olivia Bodmer saved, and some of those saves were terrific).

I don’t expect to get even a draw at Washington, as they’re ranked #12 right now. But a 1-1 record on this road swing would still be an accomplishment, and if we can somehow manage a draw, it would be an astounding success.

Kudos to the women’s soccer team for how much they are improving as the season goes on. Great way to open Big Ten play!

I don’t expect to get even a draw at Washington, as they’re the defending national champions and are ranked #12 right now.
The Huskies men's team won their first NCAA title last year but the women's national title was won by Florida State.

Whenever I fly, I always assume the plane is going to crash and so far I’ve been pleasantly surprised that I survived. That’s somewhat how I approached this season, especially after how they started. At the beginning of the season they didn’t look particularly good and I thought this year’s team was going to crash and burn the way they played.

Now I am much more optimistic as they enter Big Ten play. They truly look like a much improved team. I am also impressed with Lilia Calvert who gives Rutgers a breakaway threat they really didn’t have last year. I am also hopeful that Ashley Baran and Olivia Bodmer will each have a great season.

She gave us zero credit.

We have real potential. The team completely controlled the game for a long period during the second half.

We have some really skilled young players. If Mike can increase the amount of time when we play as well as we did during that period of time, we will be a really tough out for everyone.

The number of youngsters we are playing is amazing. Need to hold on to this talent beyond this season.
