When will we get elite players again?

Maybe he can snag one elite player since it would be one of the biggest legacy recruits not named Reed Sheppard..but plural players...they will follow when we hire an elite coach.
You don't get elite players if your coach isn't a elite recruiter. People overthink this a lot it seems like. I'm not sure if this is a bait thread tho.

Great college player? Yes. Elite as in top 10 pick, uh no or we wouldn’t have him.

Can you tell me what isn't elite about being the best shooter on volume in all of college basketball? Open, hand in face, didn't matter. He made them.
There are "elite" freshmen who go to the NBA and get spit out within a couple of years.
Elite shooter doesn't equal elite player.
Being an elite player requires being elite across the board, and offensively and defensively.
Take away the 3pt shooting, what else is he elite at?

You don't need elite players to be successful. Great coaching makes up for lack in talent. Just look at our last two seasons!
Great college player is the only type of elite I care about. We have had plenty of top 5 picks that couldn't get out of the first weekend, sometimes with two top 5 picks
Paying him elite money doesn’t mean he’s an elite player. Solid 2nd rounder, though.
We have some elite players now. And some very good players.
We had JJ last year. We had Ky’s all time high school scorer the year before.

Not a pope issue, you know why? A elite coach still wouldnt be great with our caliber of roster. Tommy lloyd in the sec with the first year team would be the same result, last years team didnt have any good players and we forced a 2/3rd option to be the first option.
I really don't care what a player's draft position is. I want them them to be good enough to make Kentucky elite and contend for championships. Sometimes a great college player that helps his team win doesn't translate to draft position or pro success. Which matters most to y'all?
It's unlikely you land elite players in the portal. It can happen, but much harder. Michigan did it last year with 3 guys. It's usually done through HS recruiting at in the top 10-15 players.
I'd call an elite talent a kid that is lottery potential on the earlier stage of their career. SLAP athletes.
Any great college team needs a combination of these along with great seasoned college basketball players.
