yep ….. I definitely agree…… so typical Iowa footballTheir defense will be a good test. I expect our running game to still be highly effective but our passing game to struggle.

I would certainly remind him of that this Saturday. That kind of low class action deserves a response, ON the field and not in print.Remember Jimmy boy said **** Iowa.
Kirk is apparently 13-12 versus the mighty Cyclones. That is PATHETIC.
True, but it is a rivalry game and most of Kirks tenure has been against the best ISU had to offer since the series restarted. ISU was off the charts crap for almost ALL of Fry's tenure.Kirk is apparently 13-12 versus the mighty Cyclones. That is PATHETIC.
Excuses are for wusses (per Hawkeye Spencer Lee). I would argue Kirk Ferentz is the best thing that's ever happened to Iowa State Football.True, but it is a rivalry game and most of Kirks tenure has been against the best ISU had to offer since the series restarted. Sure, and nothing that's happened at ISU in the last 10 years has anything to do with it, or the fact that they were literally one of the worst programs in college football during most of Fry's tenure. Your statement basically says there is NO context when teams get better for numerous reason like a coaching change. As for Lee's comment, probably wise to understand he plays in a sport where he is an individual, and he can hold himself to that, because he's a generational talent in his sport. That would be like Clark saying that, IF she could play by herself. Do keep being whatever version of an Iowa fan you supposedly are though, whatever that is.......Excuses are for wusses (per Hawkeye Spencer Lee). SO, I don't even know where WSU is classified now, but just two years ago they were a P4 school. How many of Rogers players transferred from WSU?I will be placing a large wager (I’m thinking $500) on Iowa covering.
I went through ISU’s depth chart. They do not have a single player on their roster (other than their kicker) who started at a P4 program last year. They have one OL from Utah who got some starts due to injury, one of their players who stayed got a start due to injury as well. They are a G6 team masquerading as a P4 team.
They lost 71 players to the portal/graduation and have a new coaching staff, I don’t think they will get the “rivalry boost” that they usually get due to that.
SEMO went 3-9 in the FCS last year and they were only able to put up 3.5 YPC, 303 yards of offense, and their starting QB only completed 50% of his passes. They also lost the TOP battle by a large margin.
I do think their defense has some salt, but if SEMO put up 14 I think there’s no way Iowa won’t put up at least 28, and I can’t see them scoring more than 10.
They are an FCS/G6 caliber team. I have the same expectation I have when any other FCS or G6 team comes to Kinnick, which is to win by 30. The only way Iowa doesn’t cover is if they turn the ball over multiple times.
15 of them, including a kicker. I think the Pac12 is a G6.SO, I don't even know where WSU is classified now, but just two years ago they were a P4 school. How many of Rogers players transferred from WSU?
14 players transferred from WSU, who is a member of the G6 now. The PAC-12 is resurrecting this season, but they are a shell of what they used to be. The WSU transfers are mostly on the defensive side. Which is why I said I think their defense has some salt.SO, I don't even know where WSU is classified now, but just two years ago they were a P4 school. The clowns were good to very good under Earle Bruce. 35 years later they were good to very good under Matt Campbell. I don't expect their next 35 years to be very exciting.Sure, and nothing that's happened at ISU in the last 10 years has anything to do with it, or the fact that they were literally one of the worst programs in college football during most of Fry's tenure. G6 now. My point is as recruits they weren't G6 level players. Supposedly...15 of them, including a kicker. I think the Pac12 is a G6.
Sure, and that was before Fry's second year, and then they were crap for pretty much the next 20. Which was my point. The only good to some really good teams they've had in almost 50 years is when KF's been the coach at Iowa. There is some context there. The clowns were good to very good under Earle Bruce. 35 years later they were good to very good under Matt Campbell. I don't expect their next 35 years to be very exciting.
yeah, it's a solid point. It doesn't matter where your players come from. It's a bit disingenuous when you look at the roster we have. Plenty of guys that were either walk-ons or from the FCS/G6.G6 now. My point is as recruits they weren't G6 level players. Supposedly...
I think most of the WSU transfers also followed JR from SDSU, so Ames is their third stop together.14 players transferred from WSU, who is a member of the G6 now. Most if not all of their good players transferred once the PAC 12 collapsed. They were also a 5-7 team their last year in the PAC, and a 6-6 G6 team last year. I'm not really worried about the WSU transfers.
With this genius at DC I expect the line to move![]()

I don't think they can learn much from this game. IIRC, the Hawks only had one scholarship WR available and a not-ready-for-primetime OL. Plus, its BF's simplified offense rather than Lester's.

He said it was to show the physicality of Iowa overall and to show how the offense has changed.I don't think they can learn much from this game. IIRC, the Hawks only had one scholarship WR available and a not-ready-for-primetime OL. Plus, its BF's simplified offense rather than Lester's.
Iowa has every single advantage you can possibly have against Iowa State in the sport of Football, and has for decades. Go ahead and attempt to blow more smoke out of your *** as to why Kirk's record against them is so mediocre.Sure, and nothing that's happened at ISU in the last 10 years has anything to do with it, or the fact that they were literally one of the worst programs in college football during most of Fry's tenure. Washington St is not in a P4 conference. Even if we included them, only 3 of the 14 recruits from Washington St started for them least year. The guys they got from Washington State didn’t start last year?
Surges at safety started 3 games for ISU last season, Singletary started 8 games over 2 seasons at CB for Arkansas, Willich started 3 games at LB for ISU, Overby started 3 games at WR for ISU...I'm sure there's more but I think I've looked too much at their roster already. I'm not disagreeing that they likely don't have a great talent pool but there's no need to claim no one started for a P4 program.I will be placing a large wager (I’m thinking $500) on Iowa covering.

I was looking for full time starters from last season, so like at least 9 or 10 starts in 2025. There is none outside of Konrardy.Surges at safety started 3 games for ISU last season, Singletary started 8 games over 2 seasons at CB for Arkansas, Willich started 3 games at LB for ISU, Overby started 3 games at WR for ISU...I'm sure there's more but I think I've looked too much at their roster already. The argument holds no water, Rutgers had 8 returning starters, and got their doors blown off. Boise hung in there with the #2 team in an away game with a bunch of returning g6 starters. then you look at Iowa, they have one of the lowest returning rates of anyone in college football.I was looking for full time starters from last season, so like at least 9 or 10 starts in 2025. So you’re saying that because 1 out of the 70 G6 teams hung around that means what exactly? G6 players are just as good as P4 guys? That it makes no difference that there is 0 starting experience at the P4 level on that team? The argument holds no water, Rutgers had 8 returning starters, and got their doors blown off. Sorry you didn't specify that. Carry on.I was looking for full time starters from last season, so like at least 9 or 10 starts in 2025. There is none outside of Konrardy.
1 out of 70? Wazzu hung with Washington, Tulsa beat Oklahoma State, Western Michigan....got ******. Oregon State certainly hung with Houston, Illinois looked like ****, Michigan state looked like ****, Ohio was 13-14 against Debby at half...The list goes on.So you’re saying that because 1 out of the 70 G6 teams hung around that means what exactly? 8 returning starters is a low total BTW. And comparing Iowa cycling in new starters to a team with a new staff and 82 new players is laughable.
Okie State? Did they win a game last year?1 out of 70? Wazzu hung with Washington, Tulsa beat Oklahoma State, Western Michigan....got ******. Oregon State certainly hung with Houston, Illinois looked like ****, Michigan state looked like ****, Ohio was 13-14 against Debby at half...The list goes on.
starting experience at P4 level means nothing, that I will stand by. Especially at the QB position, Darian Mensah absolutely went off last year at Duke, and is probably a heisman finalist this year. Devin Dampier is a beat at Utah, I bet Whittingham wished he'd tagged along. IMO if Iowa had Marcus Stokes this year they would be a solid CFP contender. Tony Diaz and Evan James walked in from FCS programs to start, Cignetti took 13 guys from JMU many which became stars. For this year, it's pretty simple, Byrum Brown who transferred from USF to auburn looks solid, I still expect Mestemaker to have a solid career, but this may no be the year.
now come on, they beat a dominate Tennessee-Martin team.Okie State? Did they win a game last year?
