I honestly don’t know what a foul is anymore. The short blonde PG put both hands on Clark’s abdomen in a shove motion while Clark was dribbling outside the 3pt line. No call. There was nobody out there blocking their view.

Similar situation, Kiki gets hands all over her with no call.
Similar situation...every play in the game...no blood no foul in FIBA for everyone.

It looks like it hurts when she runs.

But I really like her on this team as when CC is not on the floor CG can dish out some of the punishment that CC takes and hopefully wear defenders down so when end of game times come they are tired from chasing CC and getting bodied by CG.
She runs like she has a broom up her backside.......

No rhythm?
Honestly, I don't think we'll ever see the best version of CC in this kind of rotation. In for a few, out for a few. This is pretty much the CC we saw when she first came back with the minutes restrictions. Very little rhythm to her games or consistency shooting the ball. Then look at how she responded when she started playing the kind of minutes she normally does, and got up to speed. In 11 years of basketball she's NEVER sat on the bench for extended periods of time until part of this season, and this tournament. . She still had 9 points and 7 assists in 21 minutes. Even today Lawson had her walking the ball up the floor the majority of her minutes. Its a solid win, and I'm not making an argument that she should play more minutes. That's just not they way these things work. I'm just saying out side of an outlier, kind of like the first game, I wouldn't expect the Clark we were seeing the last 10 games for the Fever in this FIBA setting.

I agree, but I want to see Clark moved into the starting lineup. Gray doesn't look to be up to speed. Maybe in a really slow paced offense, but those days are pretty much gone. This team is better with pace.

I'd like to see them give that a shot especially against a team like France where we'll need to be playing really well. I just wouldn't hold my breath. I'd bet Gray would lose her Sh-- if she didn't start. and Clark played most of the game. We're going to need to be rolling to beat the French

For sure. I mean, at this point Gray's stats were sub-par to Clark's anyway, so what does Lawson have to lose? Maybe hurt Gray's feelings, or piss her off? But that's it. Put Gray back in if things are going south, or just to rest up Clark. Bueckers should start also IMO.

There's no way in Hell we should score 55 pts against Italy. I also know every team (USA men's included) has a stinker game like that in a tournament setting. If you're the better and more talented team ( which we will be in every game) you push the pace until you wear the other team down. I know Lawson clearly knows bball, but go look at some of her teams scores at Duke over the years, particularly when it gets to tournament time. Games in the 40's and 50's pretty consistently. Nobody has the talent and more importantly the depth that we do. But she's going to rely on her vets, it's clear that's who she trusts the most. Just let your players go out and play free and easy.

Exactly. Free and easy.

Mitchell averaged 20 points against the Hawkeyes 2014-18. Ohio State signed her sister and hired her father to sign her. She was a great and pesky player for a tough opponent.
It's weird but I've watched Iowa women's basketball for many years and I don't really recall Mitchell...dementia?

Reese is playing like the 3rd best player on the team and has had big plays in all 3 games.
Not super consistent and still misses too many from point blank but she has been killing it on the boards and playing tough D. Still wouldn't have her starting, my starting 5 going into the QFs would be:

PG - Clark
SG - Young
SF - Phees
PF - Stewie
C - Boston

Nah. Young has no interest playing with Caitlin, so you have to start Paige.

Paige may look her off once in a while on the court, as well, when she has the ball, but she's willing to share the same court with CC.

Chemistry matters more than just playmaking.

Paige and Clark actually play pretty well off of each other most of the time.

Yeah, just because a player is open doesn’t mean that you should pass it to them. Some of this video stuff of CC getting iced out is bologna. Some people just thrive on manufacturing drama online to get views on their videos. And others eat that crap up. It may be happening a little at times, but most times the ball is getting passed into the post for a shot. The times I’m seeing it more is when the defensive rebounder isn’t giving the ball up to CC to start the fast break. I commented earlier about how Reese keeps thinking she’s some sort of Magic Johnson running the fast break.

I will agree that I don’t think Paige is icing CC out at all, she does a good job of moving the ball when it needs to and has played well with her in the past. They’ve got good on court chemistry.

Zip. But we did get maybe .1 inch one year and across town they had maybe .5 inches - daughter drove over to check it out.
Oh, I have lived in Mesa for 40 years, so a lot of snow over the years! LOL
And Monsoon rainfall.
