Week 1 Overview

- Record vs. Power Four: 1–5
- Highlight: No. 19 SMU grabbed a close 27-24 win on Monday night, and North Carolina picked up a win earlier.
- Lowlights: Clemson suffered a heavy defeat to LSU (644 yards allowed), and Georgia Tech lost a tight home game to Colorado. Louisville also fell in a tough matchup against Mississippi

Since I know where this will eventually go, the acc has it easy. Even in their best case, they have a few good teams but every other week is just basically an off week. Whereas UK and other sec teams have an absolute battle every single week.

By end of year, every sec team is so physically beat up, every other conference has a massive advantage.

I'm still bearish on hoe good the SEC will continue to be in the NIL era. Its certainly leveled off a bit with Big10 winning the last 3 titles.

But I still believe the SEC could squash the ACC in their sleep. The ACC honestly shouldnt even be a major conference at this point. Feels like 90% of their success was Clemson of yesteryear, and Duke/UNC for basketball.

If you started at the top and matched up best vs best down the leagues, the SEC would go 16-0 against the ACC. FSU has the hardest schedule in the ACC, ESPN SOS of 22, because they play the only good ACC team(Miami) and 2 good SEC teams.

The Big 10 cheated for their first title, OSU absolutely bought theirs, and IU hired a generational coach with his full staff. The SEC will absolutely start winning NCs again soon, if not this year. LSU, UGA, & Texas could all win the NC this year. Bama, Florida, OU, and Tenn are will all continue to make a push for them in the near future. Hopefully UK continues to invest in Stein and they can make noise. Auburn will always be willing to spend to win, Mizzou is pretty invested as well.

The ACC is one team/NIL - Miami.

The SEC has 6 elite programs, then a couple more upper tier.
Georgia, LSU, Bama, Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M.

Tennessee, Ole Miss, Florida.

And the rest of the conference puts a good product out there as.a cultural obligation, UK/Vandy/Miss St/Arkansas/SC/Mizzou

OU and A&M may very well end up being elite, but I think they are slightly below the other four.

1. UGA
2. Texas
3. LSU
4. Bama

U dont think a sec team winning it all will mean buying said title? I hate osu as much as anyone but get real with that logic.

Every team that wins it all going forward bought it. Indiana spent a ton too.

OSU absolutely bought that title, Downs and McLaughlin from bama, Judkins from ole miss. No argument on IU spending at ton either. The SEC seemed slow to adapt on how to do it, but they are certainly figuring it out.

So if Kentucky were top 25 and lost to Bama next week, do you honestly think we would stay put at our ranking? A loss is a loss. I just find it funny how some teams always get the benefit of the doubt and the loss is looked at through nuance. We rarely if ever are afforded that same luxury.

We all better prepare ourselves for UL being in the playoffs this year. Their schedule is incredibly easy, and the committee will try and get two ACC teams in. Even with 3 losses they may get in.

I can't wait until LSU beats Ole Miss 38-14, followed up by a blowout in the Swamp. Not sure what UL will say then. According to them now Ole Miss is going to the playoff.

No chance at all with three losses.

10 - 2 with ACC championship win
11 - 1 with ACC championship loss

These are the only two avenues.

So either win out in regular season and lose to Miami (they looked damn good).
Or lose one more time in regular season and beat Miami in championship game.

If I was a betting man, I’d say the probability of either one happening is extremely low.

You couldn’t put Kentucky under Barnhart in that category. Barnhart was as passive an AD as any conference has had. He would ask the NCAA and Sankey s permission before he farted at a game.

SEC teams saw what happened to A&M on the first attempt to buy a title and backed up. B1G showed not to buy freshman but steal proven players from the competition.

One of the most overconfident fan base I have ever seen. The epitome of living with a chip on your shoulder. Taking a moral victory for basically covering the spread when Ole Miss lost their first team all American running back at the beginning of the third quarter, lost their starting left tackle in the third quarter, and then lost their best pass rusher at the beginning of the fourth. The keinholz slobbering is out of control when his stats were inflated for his two 60 yard plays when one receiver made an acrobatic catch and scored, and then hit a open receiver with no one within 15 yards of him. We will see how good Ole Miss is in two weeks when Kiffin comes to town. Kiffin won’t let up if Ole Miss doesn’t show up.

Out of the top 25. UL has one loss. Almost half of college football has no losses. The preseason poll is an assumption. If they deserve to be in the top 25, they will play their way back in. They started on the cusp. They lost. They are 0-1. They should not be in the Top 25.

SEC can choose three ooc teams tough or not. It’s on them. Then they all have a bye week. Then they have 1-3 weeks before they play teams from other conferences. Then they have more money for more good players than other conferences. Net, I think you exaggerate the SEC beat up thing to a large degree.

I was personally surprised that Louisville did not move up in the polls, especially considering that Ole Miss actually dropped a spot or two. If a team ranked 24th can play a top-10 opponent that closely, it seems reasonable that voters should recognize that as evidence that Louisville may be better than its ranking.
