assuming you were talking about the ND fumble recovery that clearly should have been called out of bounds, it’s the same issue: the refs were ACC refs and they have a vested interest in having ND be as strong as possible given how dependent ACC teams are on them for strength of schedule.

There is an obvious solution of course: there needs to be neutral non conference affiliated refs for all games but especially non conference ones. There’s no reason why the NCAA can’t organize/train/pay the refs and the conferences merely hire them for games from the NCAA. There is way too much at stake to have biased refs calling games when it is so important to conference to have their teams win OOC games or later in the season when there is a benefit to a certain team winning and making the playoff etc

I have felt this way for years. The one thing the NCAA should absolutely do and yet, they don't.

There is absolutely no doubt this should be done because the result of having Conferences govern Officiating is that you end up with slightly different Rule Books - Replay Review Process and Procedure being a perfect example, every Conference has a slightly different Review Process and Procedure (Pierrera pointing out that there is no consistent standard for which clock to use when there is a slight discrepancy between the broadcast clock and the Official Clock as there is in the NFL and UFL - which defaults to Broadcast Clock audience sees on screen when there is a discrepancy of tenths of seconds as apparently occurred here.). The NCAA reviews each Conferences' Replay Review Process & Procedure but they do not write or control them despite the fact they become part of the Rulebook once implemented. As a result, each Conference uses slightly different Processes, Procedures and Standards as it pertains to Replay Review for example thereby creating slightly differing Rulebooks for each Conference. The NCAA is first & foremost supposed to control the Rulebook and needs to get the Conference's out of the Rulemaking business via their "Officiating Offices". There should only be ONE National Officiating Office for each sport and it should reside with the NCAA funded by all NCAA members.

This should not surprise anyone. A W. Mich win would have been bad for the B1G brand and bottom line. The refs missed a blatant face mask on UM that, if called, would have effectively ended the game. There would have been no point in playing clock games. The B1G now exists for 1 reason ($$$$). Why else would the conference have both Washington and Rutgers as members? Why else would it have gone from 10 members (hence the name) to 20, 25, eventually 50? members?

As a PSU fan, I would prefer having any officials rather than B10 officials do our conference games. I've seen too many shenanigans from conference officials in our games when video be damned, let's go with the wrong call on the field!

There is zero doubt that the b1g provided the absolute worst angle view to justify the call - you cannot even see the ball at the moment is being touched because it has disappeared behind the WMU player's right shoulder (the camera angle is also subject to distortion which will make the ball appear much closer to the WMU player as it is dropping because it is shot from directly behind the WMU player and the camera shows a flat image with no 3D Depth - the front angle shows that the ball was a good distance away from the WMU player as he jumps even with his arms fully extended in front of him. Instead, the corrupt b1g provides us with the absolute worst possible angle you could to make such a decision - an angle where you CAN'T EVEN SEE THE BALL OR THE WMU PLAYER'S HANDS as evidence of a correct call when the video requires SUBJECTIVE INTERPRETATION as to the exact moment the ball is touched. This is not "definitive video evidence" sufficient to overturn the call made on the field. What the corrupt b1g is attempting to sell is complete & utter bs and everyone outside of the corrupt b1g Offices and Ann Arbor knows it.

The only thing possibly worse than the ridiculous screw job the officials gave to W Michigan, was the Big Ten's "explanation" - which amounted to "Don't believe your lying eyes", and a flood of ludicrous inanity and mumbo-jumbo trying to "explain" the unexplainable.

In the end, no one cares. The W Michigan kids got screwed, UM is "1-0", the Big Ten powers-that-be have zero integrity, and life goes on.

Apparently they did. Clear video evidence of the DB touching the ball and 1 second left. They showed this to the MAC commissioner and it was enough for him. We can question the validity of this and all the conspiracy theories until the cows come home but the final result is Michigan won and that will never change.

Yeah, no idea why their clock was different from the game clock but it is what they used and do use in games.

Nevertheless this is an embarrassment for these Cheaters. Storming the field celebrating a lucky as heck win versus a team they were supposed to beat by 4 touchdowns. What a joke. We better kick their a$$.

We went 12-0 in 1994 so our season in no way was destroyed. That is ridiculous.

There was national sympathy for Dr. Tom, he was the guy who lost couldn't get it done but kept getting oh so close. The media loves a story more than fairness and he was their story.

There was resentment in the Big Ten about Penn State joining. This was through many of the athletic departments and certainly the media. Penn State destroyed tOSU and some dropped them in the ratings.

There was a national media unhappy with the Big Ten (and Pac Ten) because they refused to be part of the new bowl coalition - the system setup to match #1 against #2. The Big Ten was a fly in their ointment.

The idea that one has to be joyous over Western Michigan being outright screwed of the schools biggest victory is simply petty.

It was more of an embarrassment to the Big Ten and destroyed any shred of credibility they may have had left.

The B10 is getting shredded on social media by everyone including all the CFB media types, Klatt, Pate, etc! And they deserve it! But I will say, this has to be the most embarrassing win by any CFB team so a bad look for scUM.

I just watched the video on BTN that was used to justify the call. The refs got it sooooo wrong. One ref says that #18 for WMU was clearly out of bounds bounds when he initiated the jump where he touched the ball. That was their reason. Look at the video. He was almost a yard IN bounds. The idiot refs thought the white border was out of bounds when it is within the endzone. You can clearly see the border in the wide shot and the endzone pylons on the outside of the white border. End of story. The B1G's own video shows that they blew the call.

Let's all cheer for MichCHEATAGAIN to have a miserable season and this will be forgotten. But if they somehow turn it around and end up having a really good season and they make the playoffs then this lucky play will be shown over and over. That would be miserable. I'm a huge Sooners fan this weekend. Could not be jeering more for a Cheaters loss.

the white boarder is OOB. the pylons in the back of the endzone to not mark the OOB line.

I always support the opponents of Michigan, ND and Pittsburgh even if it doesn't benefit PSU. Can't stand any of them or their fans.

So the clock that was used to allow for another down WAS NOT the clock that any Western Michigan defender would be able to see as the play happened?
