Regardless of reasoning, if WMU themselves aren’t pissed about it, then far be it for me to give a 17 about it at this point.

And another hot take….foul play or not, all WMU had to do was stop two 50-yard hail mary attempts. It’s a play that is successful 2.5% of the time, historically. They had greater than a 95% chance of success in doing just that, but still choked it away. They can only blame themselves.
I think the simple answer no one wants to hear is the official clock really did still have 1 second in it when the WMU player touched the ball & the correct call was made. Of course that’s not nearly as fun as being outraged by a call against a team most people have barely heard of.

Correct. And even in the MAC, those kids are getting a healthy amount of NIL and rev share money, too. Not P4 level, but they are still doing better than players even at the big schools were when everything was under the table only.

I simply have zero sympathy for any perceived injustice that happens to anyone in this current environment.

Heather Dinich to the rescue: She says on Get Up that it was a Broadcast TV problem.

We had PIP showing us the stadium clock inserted into the play...but those two videos were not synced up. The video of the play includes graphics - such as the yellow first down line - which delays the video by 1/4 a second or so. The little video of the clock was not encumbered by the same delay.

I don't know if the above is true, but I agree with Perd that the conspiracy angle doesn't make sense. Nothing guaranteed UM's second Hail Mary would be successful. It wouldn't be very logical for the B1G to risk the integrity of its zillion dollar enterprise just to give UM a second chance at a miracle.

Usually the simplest explanation is the right explanation.

I can buy the tv broadcast not being synched. NBC needs to come out and say that though. Everything I've read to date says that the NBC feed of the game clock was synched and that the conference says their "official" synch of the field game clock showed differently.

If this is true NBC needs to confirm their production view of the game clock was wrong by a tenth so this doesn't have the appearance that the man behind the curtain is screwing with an outcome. The viewers saw what they saw in real time and NBC stood by the accuracy of that clock during the live broadcast. If they were off, then they have a duty to confirm it.
