To end the first half Clark drives to the hoop for the layup and gets hacked across both arms. No call.
Honestly, probably a better game for Gray to finish down the stretch than Clark. She's more built for that bull in a china shop game then CC..

Italy just mucked up the game to the point where their was NO chemistry
Honestly it wasn't that SHE sucked. The team sucked. When have you seen a game where she had ZERO assists? Had a few good passes and each shot was missed, blocked or stripped by the Italians.
I saw the score of Italy vs Czech and thought, Oh we'll blow them out. Lolol.. Know I know why that was like a 63-54 game. They made it as ugly as possible.
Butterfingers Boston couldn't catch her easy, on point pass near the basket early on.
She wasn't good but she had a ton of company.
They all sucked…that game set basketball back 30 years. The only good player on the floor today was the girl from Italy.

Outside of a few tough shots in the first half she was terrible.
She was 5-14 (1-7 from 3), 0 assists and 5 turnovers.
My daughter had a softball tournament so I didn’t really get to watch much other than a bit of the 1st half on my phone. From what I’ve read online the team played like ***. Nobody shot well at all. But they also didn’t play cohesively. Younger players teaming with Stewart and deferring to her to shoot the ball, only for her to start the game off 0-8 isn’t great. Similar situations with other players too.
The head coach’s Duke teams barely play offense. I’m not really sure how she got this job. Sounds like the lineups weren’t good throughout the game, the strategy was to slow things down into the half court game every possession, and in game adjustments were non-existent. I’m hoping she’s gone before the 2028 olympics.
But, if I could make a proposal for her it would be to try an experiment in the next game. Start the young group at the beginning of the game. Clark, Paige, Rhyne, Reese, Boston. Tell them to play fast on offense and aggressive on defense. If you have a shot then take it, if you don’t then pass it. Keep the ball moving and nobody plays hero ball. Go with that for the first half of the first quarter, then you can pull in the vets. No team in the world has as much depth as us. If we get their starters tired from running up and down the court, then the vets can come in and pick them apart in the half court game. Also maybe implore the refs to call a foul when your PG is getting mauled by the other team on a drive to the hoop.

In the first half the CC, AB, Paige, Howard, and Reese lineup out scored Italy 17-6. The vets were 15-18. Regardless that Caitlin did not play well, the ball movement and energy is far superior with the younger players.

I'm shocked they were only out there together 5 minutes. Although the vets saved the game, the stats show that in fact, the vets were cleaning up their own mess.

Total: -15 (against friggin Italy!)

In that game, that was good. Worst game of basketball I’ve seen since watching middle school games.
It looks like it hurts when she runs.
But I really like her on this team as when CC is not on the floor CG can dish out some of the punishment that CC takes and hopefully wear defenders down so when end of game times come they are tired from chasing CC and getting bodied by CG.
Well, let's see if Young and a couple of the others look off Clark again.
