Pirates with 7-Stroke Lead at Lagowitz Memorial

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Four Pirates are currently 3-under-par and have lifted the Seton Hall men's golf team to the lead at the 2026 Alex Lagowitz Memorial after two rounds on Saturday.

Sophomore Luke Nolan (Austin, Texas) had five birdies in route to an impressive 3-under-par, 69, in round one. He followed it up with four more birdies in the afternoon for an even-par, 72.

In his first collegiate round, Dylan Holmes (Wickow, Ireland) was without a blemish, using five birdies and 13 pars to fuel a 5-under-par, 67. In round two, he had a 2-over-par, 74.

Junior Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) had a pair of round under par on Saturday. He had five birdies in route to a 2-under-par, 70, in the morning, and followed it with three birdies and 13 pars for a 1-under-par, 71, in round two.

Senior Isaiah Williams (Flemington, N.J.) shot an even-par, 72, in round one, but used four birdies and 13 pars in round two to fuel a 3-under-par, 69.

For the tournament, all four Pirates are tied for third place among 84 individual golfers with a 3-under-par, 141.

Colgate's Ronav Benak currently leads the individual field at 6-under-par with 18 holes remaining.

As a team, The Hall has a large seven-stroke lead after 36 holes. In round one, the Pirates shot a 10-under-par, 278, which ties for the sixth-best par-72, single-round in program history. The Hall followed it up with a 2-under-par, 286, in round two. For the tournament, Seton Hall is 12-under-par with a 278-286-564. Host Colgate is currently in second place at 5-under-par. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, Villanova, is currently 6-over-par entering Sunday's final round.

Senior Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) rounded out the Pirates' lineup on Saturday with a pair of 2-over-par, 74's. For the tournament, he's tied for 39th place with a 4-over-par, 74-74-148.

Competing as individuals, newcomer Jacob De Jesus (Bridgewater, N.J.) is currently tied for 11th place, while sophomore Blake Goodnight (Dallas, Texas) is tied for 22nd.

De Jesus had four birdies in the opening round in route to an even-par, 72. In round two, he had five birdies and shot a 2-under-par, 70. He's currently 2-under-par for the tournament with a 72-70-142.

Goodnight had a 2-over-par, 74, in the morning, but shaved off four strokes in the afternoon, using four birdies to power a 2-under-par, 70. He's even for the event with a 74-70-144.

THE COURSE:
Named for the ancestral home of the Colgate family, Seven Oaks Golf Club is nestled on the Colgate University Campus at the upper end of the Chenango Valley, in Hamilton, New York. In 1934, a young architect by the name of Robert Trent Jones was brought to Hamilton to begin work on designing the course as one of his first projects. Unfortunately, due to the great depression and WWII, the course and his plans were continuously postponed.

Jones was called back many times throughout the following years to redesign the course before a final version was accepted and it was not until 1956 that ground was broken on the first nine holes, officially opening on July 4th, 1958. Construction for the remainder of the course soon began and on September 4th, 1965 the last nine holes were opened for play.

Seven Oaks is characteristic of all Jones' courses, which include strategic deployment of water, along with extensive tee areas and large, expansive greens.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Colgate, the field includes 11 other schools: Binghamton, Bucknell, Canisius, Cornell, Holy Cross, Le Moyne, Niagara, Pennsylvania, Saint Joseph's and St. Bonaventure. Fellow BIG EAST opponent, Villanova, is also in the field.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

THE SCHEDULE:
The teams will play 36 continuous holes on Saturday, and one final round on Sunday. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.

Pirates Claim Lagowitz Title as Four Place in Top-5​

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Junior Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) fired a 2-under-par, 70, in round three to lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to the title of the 2026 Alex Lagowitz Memorial on Sunday.

The Hall won the team title going away, clubbing the rest of the field by 10 strokes. On Sunday, the Pirates, collectively, shot a 1-over-par, 289. For the event, Seton Hall was 11-under-par with a 278-286-289-853. Saint Joseph's came in second place at 1-under-par. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, Villanova, placed seventh at 10-over-par.

This is Seton Hall's third team title at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial in the last five years. It's also the 37th victory in program history and its 26th sub-par tournament ever.

Hennessee turned in a third-consecutive sub-par round on Sunday, using four birdies and 12 pars to fuel a 2-under-par, 70. For the tournament, he placed second with a 5-under-par, 70-71-70-211. It's Hennessee's sixth career sub-par tournament, which is already tied for eighth-most in program history. His three sub-par rounds give him 14 for his career.



Competing in his first collegiate tournament, freshman Dylan Holmes (Wicklow, Ireland) impressed with a fifth-place finish. On Sunday, he had three birdies and 12 pars to power an even-par, 72. For the tournament, he was 3-under-par with a 67-74-72-213.

Senior Isaiah Williams (Flemington, N.J.) had three birdies in round three on his way to a 1-over-par, 73. For the event, he collected his second career sub-par tournament by tying for 11th place with a 2-under-par, 72-69-73-214.

Junior Luke Nolan (Austin, Texas) capped a stellar first tournament of the year with a 2-over-par, 74, on Sunday. For the tournament, he tied for 14th with a 1-under-par, 69-72-74-215.

Rounding out the Seton Hall lineup, senior Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) shot a 7-over-par, 79, in round three. For the tournament, he was 11-over-par with a 74-74-79-227.

Competing as individuals, Blake Goodnight (Dallas, Texas) and Jacob De Jesus (Bridgewater, N.J.) had tremendous tournaments, both placing in the top-5.

Goodnight had the second-best individual round for a Pirate this tournament with a 4-under-par, 68, in round three. He had three birdies and an eagle on the par-5, No. 5 hole. For the tournament, he tied for third with a 4-under-par, 74-70-68-211. It's Goodnight's first career sub-par tournament and his highest finish.

De Jesus, competing in his first tournament as a Seton Hall golfer, tied for fifth overall. Today, he had five birdies in route to a 1-under-par, 71. For the weekend, he was 3-under-par with a 72-70-71-213.
