Scores of interest (to me)

Brandon over Madison Central 33-23 - Good to see Eugene Clinton's dawgs bounce back

Tri County 50- St. Joe (Madison) 7 - St Joe what is you doing

JA demolishes Picayune 48-17 - early returns on private vs public this year are not great for the bigger public schools

Starkville beats West Point 46-8 - ouch

Leake beats Winston 48-6 - Mark Hudspeth ain't walking through that door

MRA handles Hartfield 42-21 - these two might see each other again, but Hartfield was outclassed last night

Warren Central beats Pearl with ease, 40-14 - wonder if the younger Morgan likes to fight like his daddy did. Hope so.

Neshoba Central over Meridian 36-28 - will Meridian ever be good again?

I don’t understand why Jackson Ms public schools are not doing well? I guess all the metro private schools are recruiting I mean paying for the stars of public schools.

They are shrinking in enrollment. And yes you're correct the better players are headed out to the suburbs. That's why NWR and Brandon have gotten so good at basketball.

Picayune may just not be That good this year. Tough early schedule but they’ve been outscored 83-17.

west Jones bounced back to beat northeast jones 35-14. 35-0 at half.

Laurel comeback vs Hattiesburg fell short. Tigers win 27-25.

Lot of factors. Poverty, lack of resources, & lack of parental support. I don’t even think the private school recruiting is coming from Jackson as much as the suburb public schools.

Too many high schools for too few students.

Speaking of Hudspeth, saw his Gulf Shores team beat Saraland last night. GS undeafeated early.
It is early though & GS has never been anything, but there has been some $ put into that school & Orange beach high as well

Same problem as Columbus, whatever that is. CHS should have about 7-10 state titles, especially in 5A, but they have zero.

There is no football culture in Columbus. Not sure about today, but back in the day Columbus had many kids over 6ft roaming the halls with no interest in playing football.

Also It's always been a youth baseball town.
