It will be interesting to see the roster for the 2028 Olympics. It will be right in the middle of the WNBA season. Will Wilson make one more run. Will another young un like Miles replace an aging Gray? Personally, I'd like to see them add an athletic big with some game and ability as a rim defender. Thinking about Brink or Betts in that group.

Miles is already a 100 times better than Gray. I certainly think Wilson will play in the Olympics. I like both Brink and Betts as well but Brinks needs to stay healthy.

Agree on Brinks. Would definitely like to see her or Betts as a rim protector. If Wilson plays and you add one of the bigs, whose not on the roster. Kiki maybe, and who else? I know its two years away, so just speculating for fun.

If you dare to go onto the WNBA subreddit, there's people on there posing the question about Gray(almost 34), Copper(32), and even Collier(almost 30) being in the starting lineup over some of the young guns.

Those three combined played 47 minutes, scored 14 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 turnovers, 1 steal, and 1 block. And I know the stat isn't great, but their combined +/- was only 19. That's basically three starters contributing the amount of one decent player. Meanwhile we know what Clark, Bueckers, and Reese contributed. 33 points, 12 rebounds, 15 assists, 3 turnovers, 2 steals, and 1 block. And a combined +/- of 59 in 62 minutes.

That's +0.13 points per minute per player for the veteran group, +0.32 points per minute per player for the young group. I'll take the one that increases the lead by almost 3x the other group.

In 2 years you're going to have a hard time justifying keeping an almost 36 year old Gray on the Olympic roster and not allowing Miles on it. I'd be really surprised if Copper is still on the team too. Hopefully Sue Bird realizes you only need a few veterans to provide leadership and not half the team. And ideally your veteran is someone that can actually provide valuable minutes unlike Taurasi total of 4 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists for the entire tournament in 2024.

To be fair Collier I don’t think is even close to 100%. There’s no way the can justify keeping Gray for the Olympics. You hand the keys to CC and then bring in Miles with a 2nd unit and they will just blow teams out of the water with their pace.

It'll be interesting to see how they make up the 28 roster. I wonder if they add a few more guards since that's what a lot of the young talent in the league is.

healthy I think the below are locks to make the 28 Olympic roster
A'ja
Stewie
Caitlin
Paige
Aliyah
Angel

I think the next tier is players who i wouldn't be surprised are on the team but I don't think are locks.

Jackie Young
Phee
Rhyne Howard
Kelsey Plum

That would leave 2 or maybe 3 spots for the below players.

Sonia Citron
Olivia Miles
Kiki Iriafen
Cam Brink
Lauren Betts
Hannah Hidalgo
Juju Watkins
Sarah Strong

Brink has a lot of talent but she also needs to bulk up as well as stay healthy. I know not every team will have a 7'3 player but I don't think Brink would have had a chance in the world against that Chinese girl.

Isn't Betts Spanish?

I think Miles is a lock. I think Jackie Young will get passed by. Phelps is a lock if healthy. I think Howard is close to a lock as well. Rest of the spots pretty wide open.

f they don’t win this thing it’s going to be due to the need to play Chelsea Gray…it’s like entering a NASCAR race with a Pinto. The offense grinds to a halt when she’s in there.

Clark still played the most minutes and most of the 2nd half.

According to Wikipedia, she was born in Spain.
That doesn't make her Spanish. That's what the poster asked. Both her parents are American athletes and her Dad played pro basketball in Europe, when she was born. She may have dual citizenship, ( I don't know). As someone else posted she was invited to the USA tryouts

According to the talking heads that was only because it was a blow out, if it was close the veterans would have been in there more. The problem was the game got closer when the vets played. Gray is going to play because there is still this myth of her being the “point gawd”.

According to WHAT talking heads. Did they say those words specifically, or is that your interpretation of what they said? Look, I'm as big a Clark fan as ANYONE on here. That should be pretty clear. Still some of this victimism by some of her "fanatics" especially on social media, just makes it worse. Its the cry wolf deal where people act like she's been wronged, even when she really hasn't. Anyone who watched the game knows who played well, and the stats back that up. (She was named player of the game, just like she was the MVP of the series in Puerto Rico). Whether she starts or not, I'd bet Clark will play major minutes, and probably be in there in crunch time. If she's not and they lose to France , Spain.or Belgium, then Lawson will have some explaining to do, and we'll actually have something to talk about.

According to the post game show and it’s exactly what they said. And if you don’t think the coaching staff feels that Chelsea Gray and the other vets are better than Caitlin and the other younger players, then you’re giving the coaches too much credit. Women’s basketball is different and if you can’t see that then you haven’t been watching.

I guess I didn't research her ENTIRE ancestry farther. Wiki just talked about both her parents being college athletes in America, and then Dad played pro ball in Europe. SO, back to the poster that I addressed as well as YOUR comment to such, HOW does that make her SPANISH? Numbnuts.? Her being born in that country doesn't make her Spanish. Unlike the nonsense some idiots are trying to push here in the USA, in Spain (like most countries) a persons nationality is tied to their parents and NOT to the country they're born in.

I watched the show, and I never heard them say specifically that gray was better then Clark. I guess you hear what you want to. Like I said I'm ALL in on CC, always have been. But people who say stuff like "if YOU don't see what I see, then YOU haven't been watching" are kind of off the deep end. YES, the old guard have an issue with Clark. Clear as the nose on your face. But everything is not a conspiracy against her. How about we let the games play out. and see how Lawson uses her the last 5 games before we throw her in as one of "conspirators", shall we.
