Firing Greg now requires a truck load of money never seen at RU. Maybe part of the 17% knows we don’t have it.

I could care less when he’s fired. I just need Zinn to pull a rabbit out of a hat and set this program onto a quick path to some level of respect and enjoyment.

The 17% are the people throwing up these sad depressing threads trying to conjure up optimism for the BC game, and KEEP CHOPPING, and good kids with good families for the Pikiell fans of the world...

They lost to a team that lost to a 3 win FCS team last year

We paid THEM 1.55 million dollars to come in and whoop our @$$

Their NIL budget is at the MOST 2-2.5 million dollars and ours approaches 20 million

Ask yourself if youre a recruit watching at home, what is a compelling reason why you wouldn't be strongly considering opening up your recruitment again

I can guarantee that Zinn now wants Greg gone, just like 83% of people in random polls. You haven’t told her anything she doesn’t already know. Greg has made her job much more complicated with that performance last night. New corporate sponsors are now harder to get/less likely to sponsor at a high level (think jersey patch & beyond). Buyout money has to be raised earlier than expected which could hurt NIL. Everything got a lot harder now thanks to Greg’s incompetence. Zinn has been impressive thus far, but now we‘ll really see her prowess. I’m pretty sure she’s not happy with the position she’s been thrust into.

Greg needs to go, but panicking right after the first might be worse..

One must look at the long term , not instant gratification that winds up making things worse in the long run because only part of the picture was used before making the choice

The end of season is the time to fire , while gathering the funds to buy him out and be able to pay
someone that could be considered a good get , to replace him

I voted no, just to piss some of you off, but mainly because I;m seeing panic now and many not thinking of the long term .
As the season progresses a clear picture will show and I feel that picture will show Greg needs to be replaced at the end of season.
Anything under 8 wins is good enough reason for me, if the funds are there to hire someone considered on of the better candidates available once the 2026 season is over .

Or the funds to bring in Brian Kelly is found , right now would be great and my vote would change to yes , fire Schiano now .
But if the money isn't there,panic hiring might bring on worst times for RU because the replacement choices won;t be good, they'll be a choice between bad and ugly ,
Hoping looks are deceiving and a macho man will emerge to lead RU to glory

Pike has actually accomplished stuff at RU, he’s had some massive wins, some stupefying losses - but I think many of us want to see what he can do with money. Like Greg - both have/had a little bit of rope.

There’s no excuse for football losing to a MAC team that hasn’t won in 2 years. Thats not an NIL issue. You should be able to sleepwalk your way to a 20 point win against UMass on athleticism and size alone. This is Terry Shea level bad. The Schiano era is over, whether or not he finishes the season. Honestly, can’t rule out sabotage - maybe he’s just coaching for a buyout and retirement.

A message has to be sent now to reccruits, donors, sponsors, fans, students, players that this is unacceptable. We are losing credibility every moment that guy remains coach. Playing out the string with this guy is a loser mentality.

If we want to be B1G time, now is the first step to show it.

True, what's dumb is trying to hijack this thread by putting in a political statement about who voyed for who . That;s what the yoda picture was about

The statement RU makes must be losing is unacceptable and we'll fix it but won't panic and make things worse because we didn't have a replacement plan that would cover the cost

I don’t think it’s a panic move. Everyone sees he’s cooked. Waiting is a statement we are not B1G time. As bad as the D was, Johansson was a head coach before so letting him interim for the rest of the year can’t be worse. Send him packing now, tell the donors and sponsor we are not messing around and give Kelli time to find money for the permanent coach hire in December.

Good points, but even though Johansson was a head coach , looking at the way Rutgers played defense against UMass doesn't build confidence he would do better and might e seen as a panic move .
I won't argue about Schiano needing to be replaced, just saying wait till more games are played and while that's happening use 3rd parties to talk to people connected to the coaches that will be high up on the list of candidates Zinn will be considering to take over next year,.

Zinn did the right thing by not making an emotional decision, recognizing both needed infrastructure, and in giving Pike and Greg time to prove it.

Not even Ash would have lost this game. And it wasn’t like we lost a nail biter or some kind of end of game fluke. This just looks like a program about to go into a total tailspin. Appreciate Greg coming back and establishing a floor, but the floor is sinking now.

Spot on. It's bad enough we lost the game to UMass. Not taking action or accountability after this will destroy trust in the program altogether.

And if donors lose trust, who's going to want to donate to RU? We'll lose games and talent both while digging ourselves deeper in debt. Meaning the problem becomes more unfixable as time goes on. Which means Rutgers stays back in the dark ages.

As an outsider, Rutgers won't recover from this until there's a complete removal of the current staff.

Would fully expect Rutgers to lose any decent current committed recruit.

Some kind of negotiated termination is the best case scenario.
Obviously won't be cheap.

If Schiano's termination and buyout from Tampa Bay is used as an example, it seems that Greg will not acceot less than a full payment and sit at home while getting paid only job hunting after he receives his last check
Tampa fired him after the 2013 season , with 3 years left on his contract .

Firing Schiano after one game, I don't think any AD would do that. I also would like to add, UMass is probably alot better than you think. They replaced just about the entire team. The alarming part is Rutgers defense looks just as lost as last year. Guys have no idea what they are doing even with a entire new defensive staff. Perfect example was UM's first TD. The RB and the TE were completely uncovered and 16 didn't know which one to take so he covered neither.
