Good lord. Adam Silver off the top rope.
losing 5 first round picks is damn near the death penalty in the NBA.

Getting Leonard and Paul cost the clippers 10 first round picks in total. They made one western conference final.

This is what rules enforcement looks like when the players can’t go before a judge and invoke the specter of publicly funded college education.
This is why you punish people. It sets a precedent. Every other team is taking notice. FAFO.
So where do those 5 picks go? Do they just shorten the 1st round, or do they just distribute those picks to other teams?
This should be unlocked…

With entire NBA watching, Adam Silver’s punishment of Clippers met the moment
By handing the Clippers the largest team punishment in team history, Adam Silver channeled his inner David Stern.

Not that I really care, but I couldn't see them doing this to a storied franchise, such as the Celtics or the Lakers.
Assuming that stands, the NBA just killed what fandom the Clippers have (had?) for a generation.
Good. We either have rules or we don't. If we do, and you break them, you get hammered. Of course Steve Balmer could say he was having post-partum psychosis when he circumvented the salary cap. I hear that defense is pretty powerful.
Well don’t try to sneak money to your players under the table. It’s very simple. They made an example to everyone else what will happen if they do the same
