Pope knew the rule for SEC players and that MM hadn't entered his name in the portal. but like an idiot didn't try other options
**** man sorry. I misread it as Trimble not allowed to play while I was at a red light. ****. This is even worse. You’re totally correct. What a damn bummer this has all been. Hoping Stein can take our minds off this misery for a bit.

You and Cornhole should have a meeting of the minds. The level of intelligence would be off the charts.

Doodee Doodee

This guy fantasizes about being "forced" into this position:

They should have said hey we will help you in this lawsuit but once you sign it’s all or nothing. You either stay and fight or pay us if you leave like other NIL deals have been structured. Instead we helped him, he left us in the dust on the last day all while disrupting the team honestly. Everyone’s role changed, and maybe even excitement for a better squad. Now we lost a key guy and didn’t fight at all. Just gave up. They had to have talked about all this stuff privately.

I really don’t know how you would fight this. This was an intraleague agreement and rule. I don’t think the courts would have turned this one over. I don’t blame the kid for cutting bait. I’m glad he didn’t make a strong Louisville even stronger.

As mentioned earlier, I don’t understand how a kid like Aberdeen with exhausted eligibility can even put his name in.

Gotta think golden told him to and then return home since he knows his backcourt is trash.

From my understanding, Mitchell paid for his own legal services. I could be wrong on that, but I am pretty sure he did. The university likely had some of their internal legal team working on it as well, but they would be paid by the university regardless of working on this matter or something else.

I think Mitchell wanted to come to UK and never intended to spurn them, but I think he also realized he could be jeopardizing the last year or eligibility he has remaining of he didn't return to Mizzou. IMO, he has the least amount of blame here.

Pope has some blame for his lack of recruiting ability and his lack of building high performance teams. He has struck out on almost every major player he has targeted sans Milan. Problem with Milan is he is a 1 way player. Offense is great, defense is terrible. That has left us desperate to add a high impact player and we just haven't.

How is this making pope look worse? All you do is post negative BS with no facts. Explain how this makes pope look worse in anyone's head but your own.
How does it not?

This is multiple years in a row where he has not been able to build a solid team and is scrambling in Sept to add someone. We are again the laughing stock of CBB and expected to underperform to our standards, yet again under Pope.

Is the court ruling directly Pope's fault? No!

Is being in the same situation yet again where we have struck out on practically every big name recruit we wanted and having a low ceiling team yet again Pope's fault? Hell yes!

It wasnt really a court decision. Trimble just had his name added to the same Kentucky based lawsuit as Mark Mitchell. That lawsuit has granted all plaintiffs TEMPORARY eligibility.
How was it not a court decision when the court made a decision to add him? Like, wtf? You get your law degree online like @Cattorney?

This is where Pope messed up. Yet again, he put all his eggs in a longshot basket just to find out exactly why it was a longshot.
The roster was basically set before Mitchell came available, so why not take a shot? The intra conference BS is just that. Aberdeen, MoD and BG all transferred to other SEC schools. It’s clearly selective enforcement.
